New Document Published GFD.082 - Grid Information Retrieval System for Dynamically Reconfigurable Virtual Organization Two important requirements that all Grid application systems should satisfy are to accommodate the dynamic nature of Virtual Organizations (VOs), and to enforce different levels of security among different VOs. This document shows how to implement a Grid Information Retrieval (GIR) system using VO and security mechanisms provided by Globus toolkit 3.0, and shows how GIR system scalability and security can be improved for dynamic VOs. OGF is actively reaching out to communities such as the Telco community to advance Grid adoption, interoperability and scalability. Opportunities for Telco's include: 1) specializing in network SLAs that are optimally suited to Grids; 2) using Grids for their IT internal needs; and/or 3) offering Grids as a managed service to customers. ITU-T's Global Standards Initiative on Next Generation Network (NGN-GSI) is well under way and is responding to urgent market needs for global NGN standards. NGN offers increased quality and service features for users, independent of the underlying transport technology. During the two day workshop, graciously hosted by ITU-T at the headquarters in Geneva, OGF and ITU-T discussed current status of our respective work and explored opportunities for alignment and collaboration. [Apologies if you received duplicates of this email] Call for Participation The 19th Open Grid Forum - OGF19 January 29-February 2, 2007 Chapel Hill, NC USA OGF is comprised of a number of "communities of interest" who either are users of grids in their domain or develop innovative approaches to perceived roadblocks to the adoption of grids or grid research. The OGF19 Program seeks to build new and strengthen existing communities of interest in OGF including eScience and enterprise. The OGF19 Program will offer a series of 30-90 minute talks and panels emphasizing the applications and operations of grids in research and commercial contexts. It will also consist of half and full-day research workshops of standards-based implementations of grid software. While there are no formal publication requirements, publications in the form of OGF Informational Documents, journal articles/special or equivalent are encouraged and all session organizers are required to submit materials (including slides) for inclusion on the OGF web pages prior to the event. These program activities may run in parallel with other OGF activities (such as standards sessions) but every attempt will be made in scheduling to minimize unnecessary clashes. Proposals are now being accepted for the OGF19 Program. Only proposals submitted online prior to 17 November will be considered. We've handed out hundreds of OGF coffee mugs and celebrated the exciting future OGF has to accelerate grid adoption world wide. Information Integration subsumes all technologies needed to provide form manipulation of information scattered over many information systems while supporting a single system image. Information integration has been a long standing challenge for the database community in the last decades. Although there are several distinct research and development areas explicitly or implicitly addressing data integration, the schematic and semantic heterogeneity is still one of the most difficulties in the integration of heterogeneous knowledge and information systems - one of the perquisite steps of knowledge discovery process. The purpose of this workshop is to bring together researchers, developers, and practitioners to present their recent work, discuss and identify problems, synergize different views of techniques and policies, and brainstorm future research/development directions on semantic information integration used in knowledge discovery. The research on progress, draft idea, architecture submissions are also welcome. OGF Announces At-Large Board Members

Dear OGF/GGF/EGA Participant, Over this last weekend, Open Grid Forum (OGF) completed its process for electing the At-Large Board representatives.
