HiPC 2022 29th IEEE International Conference on High Performance Computing, Data & Analytics Dec. 18-21, 2022 Bengaluru, India Website: http://www.hipc.org CALL FOR PAPERS HiPC 2022 will be the 29th edition of the IEEE International Conference on High Performance Computing, Data, Analytics, and Data Science. HiPC serves as a forum to present current work by researchers from around the world as well as highlight activities in Asia in the areas of high performance computing and data science. The meeting focuses on all aspects of high performance computing systems, and data science and analytics, and their scientific, engineering, and commercial applications. Authors are invited to submit original unpublished research manuscripts that demonstrate current research in all areas of high performance computing, and data science and analytics, covering all traditional areas and emerging topics including from machine learning, big data analytics. Each submission should be submitted to one of the six tracks listed under the two broad themes of High Performance Computing and Data Science. Up to two best paper awards will be given for outstanding contributed papers. Depending on how the COVID-19 pandemic situation evolves, the presentation may be in person or in a virtual format. Authors of selected high-quality papers in HiPC 2022 will be invited to submit extended versions of their papers for possible publication in a special issue of the Journal of Parallel and Distributed Computing (JPDC). HIGH PERFORMANCE COMPUTING Algorithms: - New parallel and distributed algorithms and design techniques; - Advances in enhancing algorithmic properties or providing guarantees (e.g., concurrency, data locality, communication-avoiding, asynchronous, hybrid CPU-GPU algorithms, fault tolerance, resilience,); - Algorithmic techniques for resource allocation and optimization (e.g., scheduling, load balancing, resource management); - Provably efficient parallel and distributed algorithms for advanced scientific computing and irregular applications (e.g., numerical linear algebra, graph algorithms, computational biology); - Classical and emerging computation models (e.g., parallel/distributed models, quantum computing, neuromorphic and other bioinspired models). Architecture: - High performance processing architectures (e.g., reconfigurable, system-on-chip, many cores, vector processors); - Networks for high performance computing platforms (e.g., interconnect topologies, network-on-chip); - Memory, cache and storage architectures (e.g., 3D, photonic, Processing-In-Memory, NVRAM, burst buffers, parallel I/O); - Approaches to improve architectural properties (e.g., energy/power efficiency, reconfigurable, resilience/fault tolerance, security/privacy); - Emerging computational architectures (e.g., quantum computing, neuromorphic and other bioinspired architectures). Prasanna, University of Southern California, USA CALL FOR WORKSHOP PROPOSALS https://hipc.org/call-for-workshop-proposals/ Complementing the main technical program, HiPC workshops serve to broaden the technical scope of the conference in emerging areas of high performance computing, networking, data analytics, and their applications. Held on the first day of the conference, HiPC workshops will typically be half-day events (3 - 3.5hrs) although proposals for full-day (6 - 7 hrs) workshops will also be considered. Workshops should have contributed papers in their program, and can have invited talks, poster sessions, and panel discussions as part of their technical program. Workshop organizers are responsible for preparing the call for papers to their workshops and also peer-review all submissions in accordance with the conference and IEEE guidelines. Papers accepted for presentation at the HiPC 2022 workshops will be included in the workshops volume of the conference proceedings with a separate ISBN (HiPCW 2022) and will be distributed online; unless the workshop organizers want it otherwise. Post-conference, papers presented at the conference and eligible for inclusion will be made available to the IEEE Xplore Digital Library. Workshop Themes The topics of the proposed workshop should complement those listed in the main conference call for papers. Each workshop should be centered around a coherent theme or topic related to HPC and/or scalable data science; We particularly encourage workshop themes that relate to emerging areas and/or emerging application contexts of societal value (e.g., agriculture, energy, sustainability, workforce development). What/Where to Submit Potential HiPC workshop organizers should submit a workshop proposal that contains the items listed below. The proposal should also specify steps to be taken to develop a high-quality program committee and attract high-quality submissions to place the workshop(s) in a competitive international landscape. In case, submitting a full day workshop, the organizers should explain how they will attract sufficient participation to develop a full day program of peer-reviewed papers. Social good is typically defined as something that provides a benefit to the general public. In this context, clean air and water, Internet connection, education, and healthcare are all good examples of social goods. However, new media innovations and the explosion of online communities have added new meaning to the term. Social good is now about global citizens uniting to unlock the potential of individuals, technology, and collaboration to create a positive societal impact. At least one of the authors of all accepted papers must register and present the work at the conference; otherwise, the paper will not be published in the proceedings. All accepted and presented papers will be included in the conference proceedings published in the ACM Digital Library. Special journal issues will be organised where the best accepted papers will be invited to submit extended versions. Separate call-for-papers will be announced for the special tracks (more information will be available on the conference web site). Work-in-Progress and PhD Track Inside ACM GoodIT, the Work-in-Progress and PhD Track provides an opportunity to showcase interesting new work that is still at an early stage. We encourage practitioners and researchers to submit to the Work-in-Progress venue as it provides a unique opportunity for sharing valuable ideas, eliciting feedback on early-stage work, and fostering discussions and collaborations among colleagues. Moreover, this track provides a platform for PhD students to present and receive feedback on their ongoing research. Students at different stages of their research will have the opportunity to present and discuss their research questions, goals, methods and results. This is an opportunity to obtain guidance on various aspects of their research from established researchers and other PhD students working in research areas related to technologies for social good. We solicit proposals for special tracks to be held within the main conference and whose publications will be included in the conference proceedings. Tracks proposals can focus on any contemporary themes that highlight social good aspects in the design, implementation, deployment, securing, and evaluation of IT technologies. Special Track Proposal Format A special track proposal must contain the following information: • Title of the special track. • The names of the organizers (indicatively, two) with affiliations, contact information, and a single paragraph of a brief bio. • A short description of the scope and topics of the track (max 1/2 page) and a brief explanation of: (1) why the topic is timely and important; (2) why the topic is related to the conference’s main theme; (3) why the track may attract a significant number of submissions of good quality. • Indication if a journal special issue is associated with the track, possibly with information on the process of selecting papers. • The plan to disseminate the call for papers of the special track for achieving a reasonable number of paper submissions (a list of emailing lists will help). • A tentative Program Committee list. • A draft Call for Papers (max 1 page). Publication Papers submitted to each particular track have to satisfy the same criteria as for the main conference. They must be original works and must not have been previously published. They have to be peer-reviewed by the track's Program Committee (at least three reviews per submitted paper are required). The final version of papers must follow the formatting instructions of the main conference (https://cyprusconferences.org/goodit2022/index.php/authors/) At least one of the authors of all accepted papers must register and present the work at the conference; otherwise, the paper will not be published in the proceedings. All accepted and presented papers will be included in the conference proceedings published in the ACM Digital Library. The special track may provide an option for publishing extended versions of selected papers in a special issue of a journal. The four critical challenges for exascale systems are extreme parallelism, power demand, data movement, and reliability. These systems are aimed to solve problems that were previously out of reach and improve the parallel performance of applications by a factor of 50x. The power budget for achieving a billion billion (quintillion) floating-point operations per second (exaflops) should be within 20-30 MW. Moving the data on these systems relative to the computation will be challenging due to complex memory hierarchies. It would be essential to keep the CPUs/accelerators busy once they have the data to avoid memory bottlenecks. Failures on these systems are anticipated to occur many times a day, such that the existing approach for resiliency, such as checkpointing and restart, will not work. TOPICS The goal of this workshop is to attract leading researchers to exchange ideas and share their work-in-progress and latest results to address the exascale software challenges. Additionally, we highly encourage manuscripts that validate their innovative approaches through the systematic collection and analysis of information to evaluate their performance and impact. Today, service and cloud technologies are applied to build large-scale software landscapes as well as to provide single software services to end users. Services today are independently developed and deployed as well as freely composed while they can be implemented in a variety of technologies, a quite important fact from a business perspective. Similarly, cloud computing aims at enabling flexibility by offering a centralised sharing of resources. The industry's need for agile and flexible software and IT systems has made cloud computing the dominating paradigm for provisioning computational resources in a scalable, on- demand fashion. Nevertheless, service developers, providers, and integrators still need to create methods, tools and techniques to support cost-effective and secure development as well as use of dependable devices, platforms, services and service- oriented applications in the cloud. The European Conference on Service-Oriented and Cloud Computing (ESOCC) is the premier conference on advances in the state of the art and practice of service- oriented computing and cloud computing in Europe. The main objectives of this conference are to facilitate the exchange between researchers and practitioners in the areas of service-oriented computing and cloud computing, as well as to explore the new trends in those areas and foster future collaborations in Europe and beyond. Tracks - Main conference: three days of invited talks, panels, and presentations of selected research papers, including a dedicated day to satellite workshops. - PhD Symposium: an opportunity for PhD students to present their research activities and perspectives, to critically discuss them with other PhD students and with established researchers in the area, hence getting fruitful feedback and advices on their research activities. - Projects Track: a useful opportunity for researchers to disseminate the latest research developments in their projects and meet representatives of other consortia. Submissions ESOCC 2022 invites submissions in all the tracks: - Regular research papers (15 pages including references) - PhD Symposium (8 pages including references, authored by the PhD student with indication of his/her supervisors' names) - Projects Track (1 to 5 pages including references, describing an ongoing project) We only accept original papers, not submitted for publication elsewhere. The papers must be formatted according to the LNCS proceedings guidelines. They must be submitted to the EasyChair site at https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=esocc2022 by selecting the right track. All accepted regular research papers are expected to be published in the main conference proceedings by Springer in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series (http://www.springer.com/lncs) Accepted papers of the other tracks and the satellite workshops are expected to be published by Springer in the Communications in Computer and Information Science (CCIS) series (https://www.springer.com/series/7899) At least one author of each accepted paper is expected to register and present the work at the conference. A journal special issue is planned, and authors of selected accepted papers will be invited to submit extended versions of their articles.
