New OGF document published in the Experimental track: GFD-E.102 Title: Interoperability Testing for The GridRPC API Specification Authors: Y. Tanimura, K. Seymour, E. Caron, A. Amar, H. Nakada, Y. Tanaka, F. Desprez Abstract: This document proposes a process of interoperability testing of the GridRPC API specification (GFD-R.52), which is submitted to the Global Grid Forum (GGF) recommendation track. Three independent implementations from different code bases, Ninf-G, GridSolve and DIET, are used for showing sufficient successful operational experiences. New OGF document published in the Experimental track: GFD-E.104 Title: GridWay DRMAA 1.0 Implementation - Experience Report Authors: J. Herrera, E. Huedo, R. Montero, I. Llorente Abstract: This document reports about experiences made with running DRMAA working group compliance test for C bindings against GridWay 5.2 implementation of the Distributed Resource Management Application API (DRMAA). GridWay (www.gridway.org) is an open source meta-scheduling technology that, on top of Globus services, performs job execution management and resource brokering. GridWay performs all the job scheduling and submission steps transparently to the end user and adapts job execution to changing Grid conditions by providing fault recovery mechanisms, dynamic scheduling, migration on-request, and opportunistic migration. This document also includes some implementation details of the DRMAA API, and remarks some special considerations made to implement the DRMAA standard on a Grid (Globus based). The main difficulties arise because the nature of the Grid itself, as opposed to a classical Distributed Resource Management System (DRMS), which provides a single system image where all resources are in the same administration domain. -- Greg Newby (OGF Editor)

Xu Abstract: This document describes Web Services Agreement Specification (WS-Agreement), a Web Services protocol for establishing agreement between two parties, such as between a service provider and consumer, using an extensible XML language for specifying the nature of the agreement, and agreement templates to facilitate discovery of compatible agreement parties. The specification consists of three parts which may be used in a composable manner: a schema for specifying an agreement, a schema for specifying an agreement template, and a set of port types and operations for managing agreement life-cycle, including creation, expiration, and monitoring of agreement states. GFD-E.103: Condor DRMAA 1.0 Implementation -- Experience Report. P. Troger & B. Gietzel via DRMAA-WG. Abstract: This document describes experiences in the implementation of the Distributed Resource Management Application API (DRMAA) specification for the Condor workload management system. The document reports about issues that where identified during implementation and test of a DRMAA C library for Condor, which was evaluated successfully with the DRMAA working group compliance test for C bindings. We will give suggestions for improvement of the specification, mainly concerning readability of the GFD-R-P.022 specification document. GFD-R-P.101: Resource Namespace Service Specification. M. Pereira et al., via GFS-WG. Abstract: This document describes the specification of the Resource Namespace Service (RNS), which offers a simple standard way of mapping names to endpoints within a grid or distributed network. It functions as a Web Services registry that provides name-to-resource mapping. Names are mapped to endpoint references and are stored in a persistent namespace repository. RNS offers hierarchical rendering of human-oriented names, which makes resource mappings easily accessible and usable by human interface applications. It can be employed to manage the namespace of federated and virtualized data, services, or effectively any resource capable of being referenced in a grid/web environment. GFD-I.100: HPC Job Scheduling: Base Case and Common Cases. M. Theimer et al., via OGSA HPC Profile WG. Abstract: This document describes the set of use cases for batch job scheduling of scientific/technical applications, also broadly referred to as the core high performance computing (HPC) use case. A simple base case is defined that we expect to have universally implemented by all batch job scheduling clients and schedulers. Additional "Common Cases" are enumerated, which are anticipated to be applicable to at least two but not all batch job scheduling clients and schedulers. This Base Case and Common Cases will be used as a set of requirements for the forthcoming OGF proposed recommendation entitled "OGSATM HPC Profile".
