The Call for Participation (CFP) is now open for OGF22 which will be held in Cambridge, Massachusetts USA from February 25 - 29, 2008. A successful event depends on great content which will come primarily from our community so please visit http://www.ogf.org/OGF22/cfp.php to make your submission. Hurry, as the CFP will close December 21! We are seeking content related to the following topics: 1) OGF CHARTERED GROUPS AND BOFS 2) OGF SPECIFICATION ADOPTION Two weeks ago at SC07, OGF demonstrated interoperability of 12 OGF specifications and announced the implementation of the HPC Basic Profile in products being planned by Microsoft, Altair Engineering and Platform Computing. These significant accomplishments show how the work of OGF is being recognized as key to further adoption of grid technology. This multi-session track will build on the SC07 momentum by featuring contributions from developers and users showcasing their work implementing OGF specifications. 3) PHARMA/LIFE SCIENCES The pharmaceutical industry and life sciences in general have begun to depend on in silico experiments as critical elements in the path to discovery. This has enabled exploration that is only limited by their ability to access sufficient computing resources and to store and manage the resultant mountain of data. Presentations and case studies from those that have turned to Grid-based solutions to meet these needs are being solicited. 4) FINANCIAL SERVICES The financial services industry is one of the early adopters, and successful users, of Grid technology. As the technology matures, new (and old) issues emerge like expanding grids to support transactional workloads, data management and movement, and putting policies in place for charging and tracking usage. We seek presentations and case studies that describe the emerging issues the financial services industry is now facing in Grid. 5) OTHER COMMUNITY CONTENT We also welcome submissions related to the following topics: * HPC * Virtualization * Grid application and usage in eScience environments * Grids in the IT data center * Security * Networking * Visualization in a grid environment * Grid application development The CFP will close December 21, so please visit http://www.ogf.org/OGF22/cfp.php and make your submission today! OGF Activities at SC07

Dear OGF Members and Participants: Many OGF members and technical contributors are participating next week at the SuperComputing 07 show, including a number of OGF working groups and member organizations that will be hosting interoperability demonstrations using OGF specifications and specifications-in-development. These demonstrations will show the HPC community how OGF standards are addressing many of their critical interoperability issues. This represents a significant new phase for OGF - moving from the creation of standards to demonstrating interoperability and adoption in science and business. The published and draft specifications being demonstrated include: * HPC Basic Profile, including Basic Execution Service (BES) and Job Submission Description Language (JSDL) * Simple API for Grid Applications (SAGA) * Grid Storage Management (GSM) * Grid Remote Procedure Call (GridRPC) * Grid Information Retrieval (GIR) * Resource Namespace Service (RNS) * Grid File Transfer Protocol2 (FTP2) * Information Dissemination (INFOD) * Network Mark-up Language (NML) and Network Measurements (NM) Numerous organizations will be participating in the demonstrations including Altair Engineering, EGEE, Forschungszentrum Julich, Hungarian Grid Competence Centre, IBM, INFN, Internet2, KISTI, KnowARC, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, OMII-UK, OMII-Europe, Microsoft, NIC, Platform Computing, UK e-Science, University of Tsukuba and University of Virginia eScience Group. As you can see, a great deal of hard work was involved in creating these specifications and putting the demonstrations together. Congratulations to the many OGF members and contributors involved in making this happen! Also attached are more detailed flyers on the HPC Basic Profile and GIN demonstrations. SC07 demonstrations

Hello All, OGF is planning to produce a press release about our SC07 demo activities and produce a flyer that will highlight these activities. If your group is planning a SC07 demonstration, please email me so I can compile a complete list. So far, I am aware of the following demos: * HPCP * GIN * NML * GridRPC * Byte I/O (tentative) Are there others? If you will doing a demo and haven't already done so, please email me the following info: 1) A brief description (about 1 paragraph) of the demo, include whether the demo is of a published standard or is a prototype demo. 2) The demo booth(s) name and #. If the demo will only occur at specific times or days, please provide that info. 3) Demo contact name(s) and email address(es) in case someone that is at SC07 would like more information and will know who to ask for. 4) a brief description (about 1 paragraph) about the standard that the demo is based on; answering what the standard is, who should care (target users) and what benefit they will get from implementing or adopting the standard. 5) who I can follow up with if I need more info and how to best reach you. Optional: 1) Brief diagram of the demo 2) More details on all the above, if you want/can provide it Also, I would guess that many of the organizations that own the booths that are hosting, or helping to host, these demos are planning to produce marketing materials and signage in support of the demo. It would be great if you could ensure that the OGF logo is used in these materials (or that OGF is somehow otherwise noted).
