Some classic examples of social goods are, of course, healthcare, safety, environment, democracy, and human rights, but we can add to this classic list even communication, art, entertainment and much more. In this context, the popularity of portable computing devices, like smartphones, tablets, or smart watches combined with the emergence of many other small smart objects with computational, sensing and communication capabilities coupled with the popularity of social networks and new human-technology interaction paradigms is creating unprecedented opportunities for each of us to do something useful, ranging from a single person to the whole world. Furthermore, Internet of Things, Smart-cities, distributed sensing and Fog computing are representative examples of modern ICT paradigms that aim to describe a dynamic and globally cooperative infrastructure built upon objects’ intelligence and self-configuring capabilities. These connected objects are finding their way into our pockets, vehicles, urban areas and infrastructure, thus becoming the very texture of our society and providing us the possibility, but also the responsibility, to shape it. In GOODTECHS we are hence interested in experiences with the design, implementation, deployment, operation and evaluation of smart objects and technologies for social good. Clearly, we are not considering only the so called first world as the scenario for this evolution; we also refer to those areas where ICT is currently less widespread, hoping that it may represent a societal development opportunity rather than a source for further divide. Topics Authors are solicited to submit original, previously unpublished papers in the following, but not limited to topic areas: - App concepts and technologies for different mobile platforms - Blockchain for social good - Communication between mobile devices - Content Distribution - E-learning solutions - Data collection, organization and dissemination methods - Delay-tolerant aerial networks and ferrying approaches - Deployment and field-testing - Digital tools for art and feelings - Environment sensing, monitoring and preservation - Experimental results of communication testbeds - Game, entertainment, and multimedia applications - Health and social care - Human-object interaction - ICT for development - Mobile service architectures and frameworks - Mobility and handover management - New application scenarios for vehicular communications - Pervasive and ubiquitous services in cloud and IoT - Platforms and frameworks for mobile devices - Privacy issues and solutions - Protocol design, testing and verification - Security issues, architectures and solutions - Smart cities and transportation - Smart economy solutions: e-banking, e-business - Smart governance and e-administration - Smart living and E-health - Technology addressing the digital divide PhD students are invited to submit a 2-page research article stating their research topic and PhD projects at different stages. SPECIAL SESSIONS ================ In addition to the main conference, GOODTECHS19 will feature special sessions, aimed to emphasize emerging topics not fully or not specifically covered in the main conference. Special sessions should highlight current topics related to experiences with the design, implementation, deployment, operation and evaluation of smart objects and technologies for social good. Presentations delivered during the events should be based on original papers, selected through a peer-review process and that have not been previously published. Accepted papers will be included in the Conference Proceedings. Papers should be in English. Regular papers should be up to 6 pages in length. Short papers should be up to 4 pages in length. Previously published work may not be submitted, nor may the work be concurrently submitted to any other conference or journal. Such papers will be rejected without review. Proceedings will be submitted for inclusion in leading indexing services, Ei Compendex, ISI Web of Science, Scopus, CrossRef, Google Scholar, DBLP, as well as EAI’s own EU Digital Library (EUDL). Call for Events Federated Conference on Computer Science and Information Systems Leipzig, Germany, 1-4 September, 2019 www.fedcsis.org <http://www.fedcsis.org/> The 2019 Federated Conference on Computer Science and Information Systems cordially invites you to consider contributing an Event (conference, symposium, workshop, consortium meeting, project dissemination meeting, special session, etc.). The FedCSIS multi-conference consists of a significant number of recurring Events and it welcomes proposals for new Events until November 20, 2018. The Events can run over any span of time within the conference dates; from half-day to three days. Invitation is extended also to existing events that would like to join the vibrant FedCSIS ecosystem. The FedCSIS Events provide a platform for bringing together researchers, practitioners, and academia to present and discuss ideas, challenges, and potential solutions on established or emerging topics related to research and practice in computer science and information systems. The Events will be selected based on the scientific/technical interest and/or their relevance to practitioners in their topics, the clarity of the proposal in addressing the requested information, the innovativeness of the Event topics, and the fit with the FedCSIS multi-conference program. The FedCSIS 2018 – held in Poznań, Poland – attracted 349 papers, of which 74 were accepted as regular full papers (acceptance rate of approximately 21%). Some events accepted additionally regular short, position and communication papers. FedCSIS 2018 regular full and short papers are being submitted to the IEEE Xplore Digital Library, while position and communication papers have been published in a separate volumes of the Annals of Computer Science and Information systems series. Regular and short papers are submitted for indexation in Clarivate Web of Science (where they have been indexed since 2012), as well as to other indexing services, e.g. Scopus, DBLP, etc. Publications As in previous years, FedCSIS preprints will be published on a USB memory stick given to FedCSIS participants. *Only* papers presented during the conference will be submitted to the IEEE Xplore Digital Library (or will appear as position papers, published in a separate volume, which will not be submitted to the IEEE), and posted at the conference WWW site. The IEEE DL proceedings will be published with an ISBN, ISSN, IEEE Catalog and DOI numbers, under a nonexclusive copyright. Such copyright implies that Events' organizers can and, indeed, are strongly encouraged to invite extended and revised papers for post-conference publications in high-quality journals, edited volumes, etc. Position and Communication Paper volumes (separate as each category) will be published with ISBN, ISSN and DOI numbers. Call for Position Papers 2016 Federated Conference on Computer Science and Information Systems (FedCSIS) Gdansk, Poland, 11-14 September, 2016 www.fedcsis.org (FedCSIS on www.ieee.org: http://tinyurl.com/FedCSIS-on-IEEE-2016) The FedCSIS 2016 Federated Conference invites submissions of POSITION PAPERS to its respective events. Position papers must not exceed 8 pages and they should relate to an ongoing research or experience. Position papers will be presented by the authors alongside regular papers. Position papers may be also submitted as DEMO PAPERS and presented as demonstrations of software tools and products. They should describe non-for-profit software tools in a prototype-, alpha-, or beta-version. We invite TWO TYPES OF POSITION PAPERS: EMERGING RESEARCH PAPERS present preliminary research results from work-in-progress based on sound scientific approach but presenting work not completely validated as yet. They must describe precisely the research problem and its rationale. They must also define the intended future work including the expected benefits from solution to the tackled problem. CHALLENGE PAPERS propose and describe research challenges in theory or practice of computer science and information systems. The papers in this category must be based on deep understanding of existing research or industrial problems and should be defining new promising research directions. Paper publication: Position papers will be published as a SEPARATE ELECTRONIC VOLUME (of the Annals of Computer Science and Information Systems series; annals-csis.org) WITH an ISBN, ISSN and DOI numbers. These papers will NOT be placed in the IEEE Digital Library and will NOT be submitted to Thomson Reuters Web of Science. However, they will be indexed in the CrossRef, BazEkon, J-Gate, and submitted for indexing to: SCOPUS, Inspec, DBLP Computer Science Bibliography and Google Scholar. Paper submission: Authors should submit a position paper in English, carefully checked for correct grammar and spelling, using the on-line submission procedure. The guidelines for paper formatting provided at the conference website ought to be used for all submitted papers. The required submission format is the same as the camera-ready format. Please check, and carefully follow, the instructions and templates provided. Papers that are out of scope of the selected event, or that contain any form of (self)plagiarism will be rejected without reviews. All position papers will be refereed before inclusion in the conference program.
