Hi Andrea, I've just started to think about storage accounting and so am glad to see your posts. I must admit that I've not got much further than seeing an increasing need for it as of yet. I am assuming much has been done that I am not aware of and I'd like to have a chance to catch up. UR for storage accounting

Hello, I have been trying to follow the development on UR in the last few month and I have a question for you. In particular I am interested in knowing if any work has been made regarding UR for storage accounting. If so where can I find it? In case no work has yet been done is there a plan to include it at a certain point? Cleaning up the Experiences

Hi everyone I've been working on cleaning up the Experiences document, getting it into a state where we can think about putting it into the OGF-Editor process. I'd now welcome some feedback from other people on how it is going... aggregated records - Wallduration Processors

Hello, I have a question about aggregated records as described in the document : https://forge.gridforum.org/sf/docman/do/listDocuments/projects.ur-wg/docma… When we do accounting we are interested in the : "Wallduration times the number of processors" We decided to call this the "JobTime". This measures how our system is occupied by a job or how expensive a job is. For aggregated records we don't know if all the jobs in the aggregation use the same number of processors. There is a property described "Processors" but that only makes sense if you aggregate only on jobs with the same number of processors, Aggregating on number of processors seems undesirable because then you will get a lot of extra records. But if you don't aggregate on jobs with the same number of processors I still would like to be able to determine the total "Wallduration times the number of processors" Is possible to use the "WallDuration" property with a description="JobTime" to represent this total, or is it a option to add a new property "Jobtime" in the aggregate user record ? Aggregate records - StartTime EndTime

Hello, The proposal for aggregate records : https://forge.gridforum.org/sf/docman/do/listDocuments/projects.ur-wg/docma… specifies the StartTime and EndTime of the aggregation, but I need some additional clarification. It does not specify what timestamp is used in the original Usage Records to check wether the record is in the specified interval. I tend to compare with the EndTime of the job. Then it is at least finished. But EndTime is a optional property. Is anybody interested in aggregated records of jobs without EndTime? The other thing which is unclear is whether the comparison with StartTime and EndTime are inclusive or not. The example in the document tends to suggest it is inclusive.(although the hour 11 should be 23) <urf:StartTime urf:description="">2001-11- 01T00:00:00</urf:StartTime> <urf:EndTime urf:description="">2001-11- 30T11:59:59</urf:EndTime> It seems logical to me that the StartTime is inclusive, but for the EndTime it is less clear. If you want to select a month you can either select inclusive : 2001-11-01T00:00:00 <= "time of job" AND 2001-11-30T23:59:59 => "time of job" or exclusively for the EndTime 2001-11-01T00:00:00 <= "time of job" AND 2001-12-01T00:00:00 > "time of job" With the latter is easier to specify a period of a month, but I have no problem with the inclusive version. Dear Sirs, In the DEISA accounting system we make use of the OGF Usage Record recommendation, als described in the Experiences document about OGF UR1 document. For extensions and other accounting projects we need a format for aggregate or summary records where we would like to adhere to standards as much as possible. When searching for standard ways to represent aggregate records I came across the attached documents. I was wondering if there were any more recent information about the development of Usage Record Format 2 and more specifically the format for aggregate or summary records. Current UR experiences doc draft for UR-WG session

Hi All, Find attached the latest version of the UR experiences doc for discussion on Thursday. I've added a section on DEISA accounting, using information gratefully received from Jules. Some things we may wish to do/discuss: - Get the UR use cases/architectural views correct & verified (DGAS clearly needs to be updated!). Any others? Should we identify individuals who may be able to verify? - How much more technical detail for each use case should be added? - Include a section on extensions to UR -- Pull out extensions used from infrastructures? -- Perhaps also cover the kinds of issues/approaches suggested by Donal w.r.t. Tobias' recent email on extending URs?) - Clarify and agree on general structure, and content for the other sections of the document (security considerations, overall summary, etc). - Any others? I'll upload the latest copy to the UR-WG experiences doc section on GridForge tonight... Hi All, In advance of OGF next week, I'd like to make some more progress on the UR exp doc (circulated on 01/04, find attached in pdf and doc). From my point of view, the key things are: - Get the UR use cases/architectural views correct/verified (DGAS clearly needs to be updated!) - Include a section on extensions to UR (perhaps covering the kinds of issues/approaches suggested by Donal w.r.t. Tobias' recent email on extending URs?) - Clarify and agree on general structure, and content for the other sections of the document - Any others? The 01/04 version is a rough pass, but would greatly appreciate any further comments on the doc or suggestions on the way forward. Andrea, many thanks for your comments - would you be able to supply (or point me to) a more updated architectural view/use case for DGAS? I can put that in the doc. Dear group member and chairs: I am afraid I cannot attend OGF 26, because I cannot find fundings to support my trips. Besides I am struggling for completion of my PhD - writing up. Based on these circumstances, I have made the hard decision to quit chairing this working group. Nevertheless, I would very like to contribute my efforts to UR working group as a member. extending Usage Records

Hi everyone, are there possibilities for extending usage records with xml-elements, e.g. ... <ur:resource ur:description="jsdl"> <jsdl:JobDescription> <jsdl:Application> <jsdl:ApplicationName>/bin/true</jsdl:ApplicationName> </p:Application> </jsdl:JobDescription> </ur:resource> ...
