some doubts about the UR-Spec

Hi all, My name is Carlos and I am devepoping a tool in my graduation course that gonna generate some graphs about statistics data in a grid. Searching the web I found the UR-WG project and I think it would be cool to use the proposed format recommendation. I just have some doubts that I hope someone could help me: a) In the table A-4 "Common Usage Record Fields" from the document "UR-WG-Spec", When the "NumNodes" Resource Name would be more than 1? In what kind of situations this could occur? In my head, if it is related to JobId, it will ever be 1. I am wrong? Someone could clarify me? b) Is there a ER model about this table (Common Usage Record Fields)? Well... that´s it. Excuse-me for my begginer questions and my poor english. Thanks in advance. Hi, I ran the schema at: http://www.psc.edu/~lfm/Grid/UR-WG/urwg-schema.11.xsd through the official W3C validator at: http://www.w3.org/2001/03/webdata/xsv and got the following errors: http://www.psc.edu/~lfm/Grid/UR-WG/urwg-schema.11.xsd:327:3: Invalid: attempt to derive a complex basetype from a simple base: ConsumableResourceType http://www.psc.edu/~lfm/Grid/UR-WG/urwg-schema.11.xsd:336:3: Invalid: attempt to derive a complex basetype from a simple base: ConsumableResourceType What tools have you used to validate this schema? Workshop on Grid Applications: from Early Adopters to Mainstream Users In conjunction with GGF14, (June 26-29, Chicago, USA) Jointly organized by: GGF Application Developers and Users Research Group (APPS-RG) & Production Grid Management Research Group (PGM-RG) Workshop Organizers: Thomas Hinke (NASA AMES, USA), Thilo Kielmann (Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam, Netherlands), Laura McGinnis (PSC, USA) & David Wallom (Bristol University, UK) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Call for Papers: In this workshop, we aim at experience with bridging the gap between early adopters of grids and the more mainstream use of grid technology. Currently, grids are mostly on the early adopter side of the gap, asking for the move to the more mainstream users. For fostering mature production environments, incentives by application users are vital. We are seeking experience from early adoptors who would like to become mainstream users, from mainstream users who would like to use grids, from those who already do, and from middleware developers and system operators in charge of providing working grid environments to user communities. We are seeking contributions on the following topics: - user experience with early-adoptor and/or mainstream grid applications - management approaches for production-quality grid environments - techniques for robust (fault tolerant) grid applications and middleware - software tools for automatic testing and signaling of error conditions Our focus is on hands-on experience with existing grid environments, focusing on bridging the gap between early adoption and production use. For the workshop presentations, we are seeking papers on the subjects described above. Papers should be typeset in a single-column format, in 12pt font, for letter or A4 sized paper. (We never did figure out how to impose gridforge on the project :-() Note that the web page links have not been adjusted to reflect the merged documents. Thisis a work in progress right now. Resource Usage Service WG Meeting in Seoul

[ Apologies for multiple copies ] The Resource Usage Service working group has been developing a service interface for the recording (and retrieval) of information pertaining to the use of resources on the Grid. Information is passed back and forth using the Usage Record XML schema developed by this group. An implementation has also been created and tested at the University of Manchester. The service is likely to be deployed on the UK National Grid Service, and may also become part of future releases of the OMII software. At past meetings, the turn out has been fairly poor. We are keen to finish this work in some way, and want to push things forward at GGF13. The revised specification will be presented, and the recent implementation work discussed. Accountancy-related work is clearly not as glamourous as some activities, but it is a fundamental part of the Grid. I am writing to encourage you to turn up to our meeting in Seoul. The meeting is on Tuesday, March 15 from 3pm-4:30pm in the Sapphire Ballroom 1. It would be really great if some members of the UR-WG could attend - after all, this is closely related work. Usage Record Format Recommendation Document

Based on the feedback (and lack of dissent) we've received, we believe we have consensus on mergine the NLD and XML specifications to form a single Usage Record Format Recommendation document. To this end, Rebekah, Scott, and I will draft the consilidated document, incorporating responses to the comments received during the public comment period. We will post the draft for comments and recommence the conference calls to tune to document. Once we believe we have consensus on the consolidated document, we will submit it to the GGF Editor to finish the GGF process.
