This document is a result of compilation of over 200 use cases brought by TC members including representatives from some GGF workgroups. At the time we evaluated these use cases we were unaware of the potential overlap with JSDL. Our set of use cases are pretty comprehensive but it is possible that we missed use cases that might relate to your use cases. We would appreciate establishing a liaison with your WG to make sure that we address any overlapping needs between our respective charters. In addition to these requirements, in our recent face to face meeting the SDD TC voted to work with representatives of the JSDL WG to try to converge JSDL's RRL with relevant portions of the SDD. I believe there is significant overlap in this area and it would be beneficial to collaborate on a single set of XML elements to express resource requirements. We would appreciate it if the JSDL WG could nominate a representative who can participate in the SDD TC. We understand that you are nearing approval of your V1.0 specification and any changes would most likely be reflected in later versions of the JSDL specification but we believe this convergence is important to industry acceptance of both specifications and look forward to working with your representatives on this matter. Request for clarification: DataStaging element without Source and Target children

Hello, I'm writing a JSDL->classad-based JDL converter, and I have a question related to the interpretation of the jsdl:DataStaging element. According to the definition, the jsdl:DataStaging element may have two child elements (both of which are optional) jsdl:Source and jsdl:Target. As I understand: - if only the jsdl:Source child is given, the DataStaging element refers to a request to copy files TO the execution node; - if only the jsdl:Target child is given, the DataStaging element refers to a request to copy files FROM the execution node, upon job termination; - if both jsdl:Source AND jsdl:Target children are given, then the previous two cases are combined (first the file is staged in, and upon job termination is staged out). Now, I do not fully understand the meaning of having a DataStaging element without jsdl:Source nor jsdl:Target. How should we interpret this situation? OASIS Solution Deployment Descriptor TC

Hi all, OASIS OASIS Solution Deployment Descriptor TC is developing XML schema for deployment related metadata of multiple software packages (they call solution). Their scope is widely overlapped with CDDLM, ACS, JSDL, and OGSA-EMS. In order to prevent from undesirable divergence, Keisuke Fukui (ACS-WG co-chair) and I have attended to SDD TC F2F meeting this week, introduced our CDDLM/ACS/JSDL specs and ask them to utilize these GGF specifications if appropriate. http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/download.php/18091/ggf-sdd-submission.… http://www.oasis-open.org/committees/download.php/18167/GGF-spec-submission… The F2F meeting went very well and SDD TC agreed that although they chose IUDD V2 specification as their base specification, they will align and converge with ACS/JSDL/CDDLM specs in long team and also short term. JSDL-WG: Update on Activities

Dear all, just a quick update for you on our activities. There are two 90 min. JSDL-WG sessions requested for GGF17 in Tokyo. These sessions will be used to work on the normative "Parallel Job Type Extension" which will build on the "POSIX Job Type Extension" included in the v1.0 spec. Ivan Rodero (Barcelona SuperComputing Center) has already send in examples: http://www-unix.gridforum.org/mail_archive/jsdl-wg/2006/03/msg00010.html to the list to get us kicked off and we're expecting a few from NAREGI imminently.
