The GLUE WG has a 90 minute session starting at 15:30 on Thursday 18th March. In order to prepare for this session we will need to know who will from this group will be attending and what presentations will be given. I will be attending and propose to give three short presentations. 1) A quick overview of Glue 2.0 2) The LDAP rendering 3) The status and plans for roll out within EGEE/WLCG If anyone would like to give an additional presentation, can suggest a presentation that we should include or would like to propose a discussion topic, please let me know. Hi, I see that ExtensionValue is mandatory - was that what we intended? It doesn't match what we have for ServiceData in 1.3: MUST GlueServiceDataKey MAY (GlueServiceDataValue $ GlueChunkKey) ) For now I'll put out UNDEFINEDVALUE if necessary ... Stephen -- Scanned by iCritical.

Hi, I just noticed a typo in the 1.3 schema document (page 10): "Policy.MaxSlotsPerJobs int32 1 The maximum number of slots which could be allocated to a single job (defined to be 1 for a site accepting only standard jobs). Grid computing can assist grid users in order to utilize to the maximum computing resources by applying tasks and solving a scientific or technical problem that requires a great number of computer processing cycles or the need to process large amounts of data. Objective of the Book This book aims to provide relevant theoretical frameworks and will cover the latest empirical research findings in the area of grid computing. The goal of this book is to represent theoretical frameworks, methodologies, implementations, and cutting edge research findings with a critical perspective bridging the gap between academia and the latest achievements of the computer industry. It will be written for professionals, as well as students, who are involved or interested in the study, use, design, and development of grid computing and want to improve and empower their understanding of it. Also, this book aims to help researchers and developers understand the basics of the field, to highlight the various developments over the years in the field by giving an in depth analysis of grid networks. Usage of GLUE2 XML realization

Hi, We are looking at GLUE2 XML realizations, i.e., the official but a little obsolete one (http://schemas.ogf.org/glue/2008/05/spec_2.0_d42_r01) and the NorduGrid one (http://svn.nordugrid.org/trac/nordugrid/browser/arc1/trunk/doc/tech_doc/inf…. (We are also aware of the TeraGrid GLUE2 XML schema.) The official schema and the NorduGrid schema are similar. Both define only a single XML element: <Domains>. And all the other entities are defined as XML types instead of elements. Thus they can be included in <Domains> but can never stand on their own. Therefore, under this design, in order to update a single piece of information, for instance, Domains/AdminDomain/Services/ComputingService/RunningJobs, one has to re-publish the whole AdminDomain. Our observation is that the current design of GLUE2 XML schema is not optimised for updating part of the information. Is this because updating part of the information is never an intended usage pattern of GLUE? A validity attribute is defined for each entity. We assume the intended usage pattern of GLUE information model (including the XML realization) is to PERIODICALLY publish ALL the information once the validity period expires. Are we correct? Strings

Hi, A point just came up about the representation of strings. In the GLUE 2 specification it seems we have no definition of the "string" type, which looks like an oversight (other than an implication in the placeholder section that strings may be UTF-8). In the GLUE 2 LDAP schema as currently implemented for EGEE, strings seem to be typed as IA5String as they were in glue 1, which is basically 7-bit ascii so special characters are not allowed.
