Two documents have just started their public comment period. Please consider reading them and supplying comments, as this is a great help to document authors (affirmative comments are helpful too, not just corrections or discussion items). You can download and comment on any via this link: http://www.ggf.org/gf/docs/?public_comment 1. Firewall Issues overview, via FI-RG. Authors Biederberger et al. Information track document. 2. Standardised Namespaces for XML infosets in OGF, via an individual submission. (Update to GFD #58). Author M. Drescher. Community practice document. These documents are already in public comment for another few weeks: 3. HPC Job Scheduling: Base Case and Common Cases, via OGSA HPC Profile WG. Authors Marvin Theimer et al. Mailing List Changes

Sorry for duplicates ------------------------------------------------------------ As of yesterday, all GGF/OGF mailing lists are migrated to the ogf domain. They are now managed by mailman, the web interface is available at http://www.ogf.org/mailman/listinfo With that migration, all list can be now reached via <list>@ogf.org The old @ggf.org addresses will be available for some time, but are bound to disappear eventually - please start using the ogf addresses! A number of lists have changed their names: ggf-it --> ogf-it ggf-office --> ogf-office ggf-proc-wg --> ogf-proc-wg ggf-sponsors --> ogf-sponsors ggf-tutorials --> ogf-tutorials ggf-compute --> ogf-compute ggflistowners --> ogflistowners ggfstudentmembers --> ogfstudentmembers Postings to the old list names get forwarded to the new ones. With the migration we have also been able to fix the archives - you may have noticed that list archiving stopped sometime in mid June. Well, now its working again, and all mails from June to now have been added to the archive. The list archives can be found at: http://www.ogf.org/archives/<list> If you are an list administrator, and would like to receive the list admin password, please contact postmaster(a)ogf.org. In general, however, we tried to map the old majordomo settings to the mailman settings, in terms of privacy etc, so no or little changes should be required from your side. The spam avoidance policy has been changed to some extent, and is somewhat stricter than before. Please let us know if you experience any trouble with that. OGF NOMCOM - Urgent Call for Nominations

Urgent Call for Nominations for Open Grid Forum Area Directors The Open Grid Forum (OGF) Nominations Committee (NOMCOM) is soliciting nominations for open positions as Open Grid Forum Area Directors. These positions need to be filled immediately to ensure the continued smooth running of the OGF Standards function. The open positions arise from resignations and from the transition from the GGF and EGA to the merged OGF where previous Area Directors have moved to other leadership positions. All members of the OGF are eligible to stand for these positions and are encouraged to do so. You can submit your candidate nominations to nomcom(a)ogf.org or to any of the NOMCOM members listed below. Self-nominations are accepted. Due to the requirement to fill these positions urgently the deadline for nominations for these positions is midnight Sunday, September 10th, 2006 UTC. Positions: There are positions open in the following areas: • Area Director Data (up to 2) • Area Director Management (up to 1) • Area Director Security (up to 2) Area Directors are responsible for management and development of a specific topic or area in OGF, but some flexibility is also desirable as Area Directors may be asked to deal with important issues from other areas. You can get further information about the positions, the requirements for the positions and the selection process by sending an email to nomcom(a)ogf.org with your questions. Further information is also available at http://www.ggf.org/nomcom. Notes: The OGF membership programme is described at http://www.ogf.org/ merger_docs/MembershipIndividual.pdf. This is an interim call for positions that require immediate filling. The full NOMCOM process will start at GGF18, with the aim of having new Vice Presidents, Area Directors and at large board members in place by Spring 2007. Terms begin as soon as possible and last until Spring 2007. These terms may be extended to full-length 3-year terms through the normal NOMCOM process. OGF Announces At-Large Board Members

Dear OGF/GGF/EGA Participant, Over this last weekend, Open Grid Forum (OGF) completed its process for electing the At-Large Board representatives. Please join me in congratulating our new At-Large Board members: - Jason Carolan, Sun Microsystems - Charlie Catlett, TeraGrid, U of Chicago/Argonne Labs - Dr. Hiro Kishimoto, Fujitsu - Dr. Bill Nitzberg, Altair Engineering/PBSPro - Paul Strong, eBay These five At-large members will join the board representatives from our ten Platinum organizational members: - Intel - Oracle - IBM - Network Appliance - Microsoft - Hewlett-Packard - Fujitsu-Siemens - UK eScience/DTI - EMC Corporation - Platform Computing. The fifteen Board Members will hold their first OGF Board meeting in the Cupertino, CA on August 24th.
