Nominations sought for OGF Enterprise VP

All - On behalf of OGF President Craig Lee: Robert Fogel's term as VP of Enterprise has come to a close and we are making an open call for nominations for this position. The VP of Enterprise is responsible for promoting all effective distributed computing technologies in the enterprise and other industrial domains. This person will work with the Area Directors and other leaders in OGF's Enterprise Function to engage various industry verticals, organize workshops at both OGF events and other venues, comprehend industry requirements, and promote the adoption of OGF standards. Duration of term, typically three years, is negotiable. This call will close 10 October, 2008. New OGF document published in the Recommendation track: GFD-R-P.131 Title: Secure Addressing Profile 1.0 Author/editors: D. Merrill Abstract: The WS-Addressing 1.0 -- Core specification is often used to address Web Service resources using endpoint reference (EPR) data structures. The WS-Addressing definition of the EPR describes the encapsulation of the network protocol and endpoint information for a given resource, but does not specifically indicate how the EPR can also be used to convey the secure-communication mechanisms (and ancillary security tokens) required by that resource. Such security requirements can be described using WS-Security Policy 1.2 policy documents. This profile document normatively refines the WS-Addressing 1.0 -- Core specification in order to facilitate the inclusion of such WS-SecurityPolicy assertions within WS-Addressing endpoint references. It is often the case that WS-Addressing EPRs may be stored and exchanged by any number of intermediaries (such as directory services) before being consumed for actual communication. With this in mind, a particular interaction scenario may require guarantees of trust regarding the identity of the minter and the integrity of the EPR. This document also normatively describes how XML-Signature is used provide such guarantees. OGF24 CFP and Advanced Registration Dates Extended to August 8, 2008

There is still time to submit session proposals for OGF24 to be held in Singapore from September 15-19, 2008! The dates for both the Call for Participation and Advanced Registration for OGF24 have been extended to August 8, 2008. Please be aware, however, that lodging options are filling up quickly due to an event happening after OGF24 (a Formula One race), so book your hotel as soon as possible. As a result of their term expiration, we will be filling their seats at the next Board meeting. We are currently holding an open call for nominations and you may nominate anyone involved in OGF (i.e., individual member or employee of an organization member) except from a Platinum member, whose representatives sit as organizational Directors on the Board. If you are unsure whether a potential nominee is a member or not, go ahead and submit the name and the OGF staff will perform the necessary check. There are two items to note while you are considering nominees. First, the bylaws indicate that At-Large Board members are intended to represent the broad community (of members and non-members), not their own organizations. Secondly, the bylaws do not rule out consecutive terms, so the outgoing Board members above may be re-nominated for a new term.
