OGF Use Cases Workshop1

All, As discussed on the call today - here is a first draft of the workshop call. Responses ASAP for a final discussion on Thursday's call. Steven

As an outsider to your discussions, I don't understand how this workshop relates to or compares to the series of enterprise requirement workshops that have been run at OGF meetings for some time. The term "OGF community" that you use seems ill-defined; is it supposed to include enterprise users? Or is it synonymous with "e-science grid users"? Best wishes, Dave. Steven Newhouse wrote:

Firstly, yes it is beyond 'just' e-science users. The community is everyone involved in OGF! I had a look at the Enterprise Requirements RG website and found some use cases that were dated several years ago and the presentations from recent OGFs - is there more that I am missing? Some of these seem to have the right level of depth - concrete definitions of the interactions between the various actors/services - but others seemed a lot less defined. Has there been any follow up to these? OGSA had its big use case document from several years ago. There would seem to be a benefit in updating this to drive the spec. adoption activity over the next few years. I have never been a fan of such workshops whether in current form or previous incarnations. I think use cases are very well understood especially in e-Science. This (lack of understanding of why/how Grids used) is not a significant issue for "community" (outside OGSA!) and not why OGF has some difficulties. Dave Berry wrote:
