ACS session at OGF19

Andrew, and those interested, I heard from Hiro that people from UVA have interests on ACS. Also, ACS is included in the OGSA-EMS Scenarios document announced in the Andreas's message. I would like to invite you and anyone interested to the ACS session at OGF19. We have one session and the session info is shown below: Tuesday, January 30 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm Application Contents Service (ACS-WG) (Windflower) Session Agenda: - Introduction of NAREGI PSE implementation of ACS and Replication feature - Review adoption of the ACS 1.0 specification and how to promote it further We will cover the replication of the ACS archive as above. The 4th International Conference on Grid Services Engineering and Management - GSEM 2007 University of Leipzig, Germany, 24 - 26 September 2007 http://www.ict.swin.edu.au/conferences/gsem2007 The Grid has emerged as a global platform to support on-demand virtual organizations for coordinated sharing of distributed data, applications and processes. Service-orientation of the Grid also makes it a promising platform for seamless and dynamic development, integration and deployment of service-oriented applications. The applica-tion components can be discovered, composed and delivered within a Grid of services, which are loosely coupled to create dynamic business processes and agile applications spanning organizations and computing platforms. The technologies contributing to such Grids of services include Service-Oriented Computing, Agent Technology, Semantic Web, Grid Computing, Software Engineering, and Business Process Technology. The GSEM 2007 conference aims at presenting and discussing the impact of the latest theoretical and practical results from the above-mentioned technological and research areas on the engineering and management of Grid services and service-oriented applica-tions. The conference provides a platform for bringing together researchers and practitioners from diverse fields and interests, and those looking for new business and research coop-eration opportunities in the above areas. Building on the three successful predecessors in 2004, 2005, and 2006, GSEM 2007 takes place from September 24 to 26, 2007 in Leipzig in the context of SABRE 2007. The topics of the conference include all areas related to grid service engineering and management, including but not limited to: * Modelling, description and discovery of services on the Grid * Deployment, packaging, and distribution of Grid services * Grid service architectures, infrastructures and deployment environments * Software engineering for Grid service creation, development, and generation * Service provisioning and Quality of Service for Grid services * Workflow planning and composition for Grid services * Service level agreement negotiation and contracting * Adaptive management, coordination, monitoring and control of Grid services and applications * Formation and management of virtual organizations * Intelligent services and Grid service agents * Security, performance and reliability engineering in service Grids * Testing and benchmarking of grid services * Grid service business models and applications * Standardization aspects We invite original research papers, work-in-progress reports, and industrial experiences describing advances in the above areas that have not been published previously, nor already submitted to other conferences in parallel with this conference. Full papers must not exceed 15 pages and follow the author instructions of Springer-Verlag. All papers should be in PDF or PostScript format. The paper should have a cover page, which in-cludes a 200-word abstract, a list of keywords, and author's e-mail address. Authors should submit a full paper via electronic submission available on the conference Web site. All papers submitted for GSEM'07 will be peer-reviewed and similarly to the previous years, accepted papers are planned to be published in a special proceedings by Springer Verlag. Dear All ITU just announced From the beginning of 2007, ITU-T Recommendations will be available without charge for a trial period. With only a small number of exceptions all in-force Recommendations will be available in PDF form via a simple mouse click. There is a general belief that the strategic importance of making on-line access to ITU-T Recommendations free outweighs the costs (in terms of lost revenue) to ITU. This is seen as a way to increase the transparency of ITU-T work and encourage wider participation in ITU-T activities. It is also believed that this policy will help increase developing countries' awareness of pertinent issues and help to promote the participation of academia in ITU-T work. Proposal for restructuring teleconferences

* Background At the moment OGSA-WG has 2 calls a week each scheduled for 2 hours. Both of these calls are broadly structured along the lines of 1) logistics/administration (early discussion, AI review, planning, etc); 2) one or more technical topics. * Problem Only a small core group of people join the calls for both the logistics discussion and for all technical topics. Many other people may not have a strong interest in the logistics portion of the calls, or may only want to join the calls for certain technical topics. Though the agendas have estimates for the duration of each agenda item these durations are not 'hard' and it is difficult for participants to time when to join a call if they just want to join a specific technical topic. (And sometimes topics move around during agenda bashing anyway.) * Proposal The start times, frequency (twice a week) and overall duration (2 hours each) of the calls stay the same. We subdivide each two hour call into 1 hour slots, for a total of 4 slots a week. Of these 4 one-hour slots (at most) 1 slot a week will be for logistics/administration with the remaining slots for technical discussion. The logistics slot will alternate between Monday and Thursday each week. Only a single technical topic may be scheduled to a slot. A topic may not exceed its slot duration. If discussion on a topic finishes early or is canceled then the next topic does not start until its scheduled slot time. In other words the slots are independent of each other. Assuming that for week 1 the topics are Workflow, EMS, and Info Model then the schedule could be: Monday 7 am(slot 1): Info Model Monday 8 am(slot 2): Logistics Thursday 10pm(slot 3): EMS Thursday 11pm(slot 4): Workflow (Times are in JST) Week 2 would have the the Logistics slot on Thursday. Suppose that in this example Thursday's EMS discussion finishes in 30 minutes, i.e., by 10:30pm JST. The Workflow discussion would not start early; it would still start at 11:00pm JST. So the people who dialed in for slot 3 and also want to join slot 4 could hang up, do some other work, and dial back in after 30 minutes. If someone wants to join just the Workflow discussion then they would not have to join the call from 10pm and wait. -- Andreas Savva Fujitsu Laboratories Ltd

Hi all, At OGF19, we have scheduled 5 sessions and we will not have a separate F2F in Chapel Hill. https://forge.gridforum.org/sf/go/doc1678 We are planning an interim F2F in March on west coast. At November F2F we choose March 27-29. However, some people asks to move to the week of March 12. If you plan to come to March F2F, please let me know your availability for these date.
