All, On August 17 from 0900-1200 PST we will be having a F2F as part of the overall OGSA F2F meeting in Sunnyvale. I propose the following agenda: 0: Agenda bashing as usual 1: Discuss updated document (see footnote) & decide if we are ready to send it out for public comment 2: RNS discussion Is RNS the high-level name scheme that we want? Is there any feedback we (the OGSA-WG) want to offer to the GFS-WG independent of feedback from any single member (i.e., are there any issues that we think are critical?) 3: Interoperability testing of WS-Naming resolution functions. Footnote: Mark and I in the process of taking the last version of the document (July 11), and a) Putting into GGF format b) Schema and WSDL of resolution porttypes c) Normative schema and description for extending WS-Addressing (right now we have an example, not a schema) d) Example message exchanges for resolution

Hi Enric, > You're essentially correct. WSRF has no "builtin" resource > enumeration > function, as this would be a higher level system-like function. For a link between WBEM/CIM and WSRF, please see the document at: http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/webservices/library/specification/ws-w sdm/ It is the proposal to map CIM onto WSDM (Web Services Distributed Management). WSDM, to put (a bit too) simply, is a layer on top of WSRF/WSN, and even if you only don't know WSDM you might be able to understand a lot of the document (see section 11 and especially section 16). This document might give you an example of what kind of thing is the "higher-level" that David talked about, and "WS-CIM" that Tom mentioned. Hope that helps, Fred Maciel Hitachi America R&D

That being said, I believe you will find the answer is that there is no standardized mechanism for 'instance registries'. You certainly could use a ServiceGroup to provide this capability. This is precisely what the one of the proposals to the DMTF WS-CIM WG dictates. That would be another place to ask the question. WSRF - enumerating resources

Hello, I have a general question about WSRF and I hope this is the correct place to make it (if not, please tell me where should I ask) How can I retrieve the list of all the Resource instances of the same type? (In WBEM/CIM it would equival to do a enumerateInstances() operation). Maybe should I create a service group, and then do a query() ? Thanks for any help. -Enric

Hi Fred, Thanks! This is good. So like you suggest leaveraging CIM 2.1 would be a great start to bridge the "JSIM" like piece withthe equivalent description in say GLUE. Both CIM and GLUE use UML and so it may be an easier excercise that we may think now. Thanks! Which means that both working groups closed but are still active :-). Tom Roney (one of the CGS-WG chairs) participates in the resource management design team. What you are talking about is JSIM (Job Submission Information Model). It has just been incorporated in CIM 2.10, just released, and be sure that we will "proudly plagiarize" its classes in time (if we haven't done so already). BTW, the work on SRIM (Software Resource Information Model), which CGS-WG was doing when it closed, is now being done at the DAIS-WG collaborating directly with the DMTF.
