Poll for weekly telecon call time slot

Hi; I've been trying to get a Microsoft teleconferencing number that allows free international call-ins, but have discovered this is harder to do achieve than I thought. (It looks like I'll need to use LiveMeeting to implement a call-back approach to the problem.) I need to get two things from those people who are interested in participating in a weekly HPC Profile teleconference call: * What day-of-the-week and time slots would you prefer as well as be willing to have this call? (NOTE: we will avoid overlap with the OGSA and BES telecon calls that occur on Thursday mornings (morning in the US) and with the JSDL telecon call that occurs on Wednesday mornings.) * What country would you be calling in from. (I need this to determine the constraints on the teleconferencing system set-up.) My personal preference for a day and time slot would be Tuesday morning or Friday morning. Now that BES has been revised it's time to start defining an HPC Profile

Hi; Up till now the focus of HPC Profile work has effectively been to engage with the BES and JSDL working groups to try to effect changes that would be useful to the HPC Profile specification effort. As a consequence the email traffic and discussions have taken place on the BES and JSDL mailing list and teleconference calls. At the July face-to-face meeting in Argonne we made a lot of progress towards redefining BES in a manner that would nicely support an HPC Profile specification. We also discussed what kinds of restrictions would be appropriate to JSDL for the HPC Profile as well as the possibility of creating a "basic HPC execution" extension profile that could be used instead of the Posix extension in order to support non-Posix (e.g. Windows) execution systems. Given all this, it's now time to start working on a concrete HPC Profile specification. That means that you'll start seeing traffic on the HPC Profile mailing list (ogsa-hpcp-wg) and that we will start holding weekly telecon calls to make forward progress. I'm sending this email to several mailing lists in order to alert everyone to the fact that the ogsa-hpcp-wg mailing list is going to start seeing traffic and will become the locus of the discussion for the HPC Profile work. So if you're interested in participating - or just lurking and watching - please do start monitoring (and contributing to) the ogsa-hpcp-wg mailing list. One of the first things I'll be doing on the mailing list is nailing down a date and time for a recurring telecon call. Also, we've created a place on gridforge for HPC Profile-related documents: https://forge.gridforum.org/projects/ogsa-hpcp-wg/ That's where we will be putting all the documents related to the HPC Profile, including straw-man proposals. Indeed, if you have a straw-man proposal that you'd like to submit concerning any or all aspects of the HPC Profile then please feel free to post your document(s) to gridforge and alert people to them via email to the mailing list. Update on OGSA HPC Profile WG (incl. LAST CALL on use-case doc)

Folks, As the OGSA F2F is next week, Marvin and I thought it would a good time to recap our group's progress to date. At GGF17 in Tokyo, we outlined three deliverables for the group: OGSA HPC Use Cases (GFD-I; first draft: Apr 2006, ready for public comments: July 2006), OGSA HPC profile specification (GFD-R.P; first draft: Aug 2006; ready for public comments: Nov 2006), and OGSA HPC initial common cases extension profile specification (GFD-R.P; first draft: Jan 2007; ready for public comments: Apr 2007). The OGSA HPC Use Cases document was discussed extensively this Spring, so we'd like to issue a "LAST CALL" on this document, which has recently been reformatted to GGF specification: https://forge.gridforum.org/sf/go/doc13649?nav=1 . Comments must be made by of 7/17/06 to be reflected in the document that will go into the "public comments" area of GGF (of course, you are free to make comments during the official GGF "public comments" as well -- this "LAST CALL" is being made to the WG). Our OGSA HPC Profile group has been VERY active (the OGSA HPC Profile email list has not been used to date -- all of the activity is taking place in the JSDL and BES working groups, both on the email lists and in the conference calls). We believe that we are making great progress on making sure that our requirements are contained in the current BES draft and being addressed in the next JSDL draft). At this time, we believe that we are on-track to make the Aug 2006 "first draft" deadline for the OGSA HPC profile specification, although much work remains. At the OGSA F2F next week, the topics that we anticipate discussing include BES, JSDL, the issue of "rendering" (e.g., WSRF, WS-I), and the information model. We have made a request to have a single 90-minute session at GGF18 in Wash DC in September. We believe that the majority of this time will be used to discuss our WG's forthcoming initial draft of the OGSA HPC profile specification.
