Folks, For those of you at Supercomputing 2008 in Austin, please consider attending the HPC Profile BOF *tonight* (5:30-7:00, location: 18A/B/C/D). There will be an overview and update of the specs. There will also include the first public discussion of some exciting work that eBay is doing with the HPC Profile (attend the BOF to find out what they're doing !) Regards, Marty

Third-party file transfers

Hi all, I just wanted to let people know that if they need a third-party server to put/get data to/from during SC08 demos, you can use scp at ws.dreadnought.org using the username 'sc08user' and password 'sc08demo'. Give it a try (nothing huge, please ... there is only around 100GB free) and let me know how well it works for you. -- Chris

BES & GLUE Telecon

Present Marty Humphrey Chris Smith Steven Newhouse GLUE Discussions We decided that none of us had spare time to ensure there would be a BES & GLUE integration for SC08. Clearly there will be other GLUE and other BES activities taking place at SC08. The next reasonable target to push for would be OGF 25 in March. No other AOB the call ended early.

Present: Steven Newhouse Chris Smith Marty Humphreys Shahbaz Memon Discussion: We reviewed various example BES renderings involving the GLUE 2.0 schema: e.g. http://glueman.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/glueman/trunk/glue-xsd/examples/g… We decided that we would each continue to work on customizing these examples for our own endpoints and send examples to the list. Call on FRIDAY 31st October at 9AM PACIFIC to continue the GLUE/BES discussion.

Plans to do Application Profile and File Staging. Possibly end of next week. Contact Chris for username/password or provide CA details. * Genesis II: Endpoint up in the next few days. Will put username & password on wiki. * Microsoft: Endpoint who will go up on the wiki at the start of the show. Contact Steven next week for a password. * Unicore: Endpoint the end of next week. Contact Shabaz for username & password. * Altair: Has resources to do something once they get to SC08. Is there a data source we can use? * Chris can probably do FTP, SCP or HTTP (get no put) * Bill can probably do SCP Application Template profile * Sleep / HelloWorld * Maybe BLAST on the Platform endpoint * Bill looking for Altair's Radioss to go on the HPCS 2008 cluster on the MS stand Publicity * Wiki should be recording point for publicity material can be used by Joel (& others) * All material MUST be finalized by November 7th as it will then be used to generate printed copies Next Meeting - Friday 7th November 9AM Pacific.
