[glibrary] Everychild - illegible words

I have a copy of "Everychild", by Louis Dodge. It was published by Charles Scribner's Sons, New York, 1921, copyright 1921 by Charles Scribner's Sons. While scanning it, I found that two words on page 159 were illegible from what looked like dried, spilled food. When I tried to (carefully) scrape away the residue, the whole residue flake came free and took some of the book's paper with it, along with the printing. The missing text is on page 159's last paragraph, which begins with "A bluff, soldierly-appearing man...". The last four lines of the paragraph are these, with the missing fragments indicated by underscores: ing rascals followed him into the room he re- _____, with a sigh: "He's not here. And that's _____ of luck at least--to have no one about whilst we mix this devil's brew." Then more briskly: The first missing fragment ends with "ed". From the context, and when combined with the "re" at the end of the previous line, the word might something be "reported" or "remarked", but I'm just guessing. (Judging by the amount of space occupied by the missing characters, "remarked" is probably the better guess.) As for the second missing fragment, from its context, I think it reads "a bit". A portion of the T is visible, but the rest is a guess. Does anyone have this book, that they can fill in the missing words for me? Thanks, Al

I have a copy of "Epochs in American History", by Edward S. Ellis, A.M. The title page also shows "American History Series, No. 2." It was published by A. Flanagan Company, Chicago, copyright 1896 by A. Flanagan. Its last page (containing pages 191 and 192) is missing. Its page 190 ends with these two lines: He had made up his mind, long before, to become a lawyer and he now did so. The same Does anyone have this book? I'm working on Ralph Waldo Emerson's 'The Conduct of Life' as published in 1876 by James R. Osgood and Company. I harvested the images from Google Print, though they now seem to have disappeared from Google's site. The images were made from a copy at Harvard College Widener Library: they appear to have two copies: http://lms01.harvard.edu/F/5KLTCUXI7EE13N2NS739T4IAIEANK7TNU3K5L596S3YL2EK8… Punctuation marks are not always clear or have sometimes dropped out on the images. I was wondering if someone could check the following against a paper copy of the 1876 edition: verso (line 3): Is there a period after 'Massachusetts'? TOC (line 2): Is there a period after 'Page'? page -1 (line 4): Is there a semicolon after 'bare'? page -1 (line -1): Is there a period after 'creates'? page 12 (line 11): Is there a semicolon after 'slate'? page 58 (line 6): Is 'baby jumper' hyphenated? page 74 (line 4): Is there a semicolon after 'nature'? page 179 (footnote): Is there a period after 'worms'? page 245 (line 10): Is there a semicolon after 'wave'? [glibrary] Harold MacGrath - Hearts and Masks - possible missing pages?

I have a copy of Harold MacGrath's "Hearts and Masks", illustrated by Harrison Fisher, published by Grosset & Dunlap, copyright 1905 by The Bobbs-Merrill Company. It may be missing some pages or illustrations. Since the book has neither a table of contents nor a list of illustrations, I can't be sure. I'd like to check these two items: 1. The book ends at page 314. There's no "The End" or "Finis" or any definitive end-of-book indicator. Are there any pages after 314? 2. The book has ten illustrations: the Frontispiece, and nine others facing these pages: 10, 22, 38, 58, 70, 98, 110, 124, and 250. Some of the existing illustrations are loose, so I don't know if they're where they should be or not. Are the existing ones in the correct locations? Are there any others that are missing? I've done some research (Google and AbeBooks) that would indicate that page 314 is indeed the last page, and the above 10 illustrations are all there are, but I'd like to check. If anyone out there has this book, can you verify that my copy is complete, and if it isn't, scan and send me what's missing? Thanks, Al It's missing the leaf containing pages 3 and 4. I have a copy of "The Big-Town Round-Up", by William MacLeod Raine, published by Grosset & Dunlap, copyright 1920 by William MacLeod Raine. Half the Frontispiece (by George Giguere) has been torn away. The portion that's left shows a man in a black suit, his fist doubled, and a woman in the background.
