IBM Watson DFDL prototype available!

Dear fellow DFDL enthusiasts, I am pleased to announce that the IBM Watson "minimal DFDL" prototype can now be downloaded from the public IBM alphaWorks site! It is part of the "Virtual XML Garden" release that is available from http://www.alphaworks.ibm.com/tech/virtualxml The DFDL prototype is documented in the "Virtual-XML-Garden/samples/dfdl/DFDL.html" file of the download. For those of you that will attend the XML 2005 conference, I will give a TUTORIAL on DFDL in the morning of Friday, November 18, based on this prototype. If you wish me to reference *your* DFDL implementation then drop me a note and I'll make sure the tutorial attendees learn of it. New Watson DFDL tutorial and prototype

Dear all, My DFDL variant prototype (which I have described to you in a couple of earlier incarnations) is about to be released later this week (on www.alphaWorks.ibm.com) along with a tutorial introduction, both for use at my XML 2005 DFDL tutorial (http://2005.xmlconference.org/tutorials/fridayam#4) I would like to include references/links to other publically available DFDL implementations and tutorial documentation. If you wish your implementation or tutorial referenced from my tutorial then please send me a message! Messages received by Wednesday morning (EST) can even be included in the documentation included with the prototype. Present: ======= Martin Westhead Geoff Judd Robert McGrath Mike Beckerle Reports on action items from the F2F: =========================== * Extensibility [MB] Mike had an action to pass out to th group a summary of the work IBM has done on extensibility. Wrapping this up turned out to be non-trivial. Mike is concerned that extensibility is a research level issue not ready standardization. This is clearly a concern. The proposal is that a subgroup should take the extensibility issues to one or more concrete proposals. There is already a tracker in place for this activity. The current team against this tracker is: Martin, Tara, Mike, Jim and Bob. * Scoping write-up [MB] - still outstanding * Properties list reconciliation [MB] - Mike will revise that stuff (lower priority) * Break up of properties into groups [MB]- this will happen when the properties list is reconciled. * Charter [MW] New charter has been approved by the group and submitted to the GGF. Issues List ======== * Resolved issues 28, 29,32 and 33 * Discussion should restart from issue 34
