Dear all, It is with great grief and sorrow that I forward the news that Milan Sova, our colleague of the CESNET CA has suddenly passed away. He has been one of the great driving forces for the IGTF, EUGridPMA, and the CAOPS-WG, and a pioneer in PKI and identity management - but above all a source of inspiration and joy during all those many places we went and where we together built up that warm and fuzzy feeling of trust. Let us remember Milan for all the great times we had together and his inspiration -- it's still hard to comprehend. We'll miss you! DavidG.

This is devastatingly sad news. Milan was an innovator, and a great source of knowledge and inspiration on all things CA, to all of us. Whenever he had objections to something, you could be absolutely sure that you'd have to double check it. I remember fondly Milan and I both arriving early for a meeting in Banff, so we decided to trek around playing tourists. We were in some sort of lift up to one of the peaks, where some enterprising person decided to take pictures of people to sell it back to them, and Milan, on principle not fond of being taken pictures of, managed to avoid it despite being in a very small space with a camera pointing at him. He was great as a travelling companion, too - always with an eye for the unusual, the oddball stuff, or with an ear for the peculiar English expressions. But above all, he was a friend. We shall miss Mr X. --jens
With great surprise and grief as you all, I believe what we learned from Milan would continue in IGTF. I am very pleasure to be inspired from Milan in many IGTF events, and APGridPMA meetings in Taiwan. Eric On Jan 3, 2013, at 5:29 PM, David Groep <davidg@nikhef.nl> wrote:

My heart is heavy with this news - Milan has done so much for our community through his contributions of effort and intellect, his advice and hand of friendship over many years. We had many adventures together in many different places, he was a wonderful musician, an avid traveler, a sharp intellect, an innovator, a thought leader, an enabler of trust, but most of all, he was my friend - I will sincerely miss you my dear friend. -Scott On 1/3/2013 2:29 AM, David Groep wrote:

I just cannot believe this sudden loss. The IGTF will just not be the same without him. He was such a source of wisdom (and fun!) from the very early days of CACG. A true giant. I always loved the way he constantly reminded us all that he knew nothing about Grids :=) And yet he contributed so much to the world of Grid security. He was an excellent travel companion and friend (I can't begin to count how many meetings we attended together - and all over the world!) and we will all miss him so so much. This is very sad and unexpected news indeed. I will always be grateful for his patience in constantly explaining the world of PKI to us newbies (in my case, I have been pestering him for the last seven years). He was always patient, good hearted and fun to be with (even when he had to have a smoke :-). I too would like to send my condolences to his family. He will be sorely missed! Vinod. I just got home from spending a few days with family and I can’t believe the horribly sad news I've seen in my mail. Milan, this world will not be the same without you. Rest in peace. I shall raise a glass of water (no ice). To a good friend found in many places away from home; To Milan. May the coffee where you are now be of an acceptably superior quality.
