This is devastatingly sad news. 

Milan was an innovator, and a great source of knowledge and inspiration on all things CA, to all of us. Whenever he had objections to something, you could be absolutely sure that you'd have to double check it. 

I remember fondly Milan and I both arriving early for a meeting in Banff, so we decided to trek around playing tourists. We were in some sort of lift up to one of the peaks, where some enterprising person decided to take pictures of people to sell it back to them, and Milan, on principle not fond of being taken pictures of, managed to avoid it despite being in a very small space with a camera pointing at him. He was great as a travelling companion, too - always with an eye for the unusual, the oddball stuff, or with an ear for the peculiar English expressions.

But above all, he was a friend.  We shall miss Mr X.
