Announcing a newly published Informational document in the GGF document series: Title: A Survey of Transport Protocols other than Standard TCP Author/editor: E. He, P. Vicat-Blanc Primet, M. Welzl GFD #: GFD-E.055 Download link: http://www.ggf.org/ggf_docs_final.htm Abstract: 'Standard' TCP (TCP Reno) is a reliable transport protocol that is designed to perform across a wide variety of networks conditions, though it is not optimized for any. Several experiments and analyses have shown that this protocol is not suitable for each and every kind of application and environment - e.g., bulk data transfer in high bandwidth, large round trip time networks. In this document, we review and compare different emerging alternatives that try to solve this and other problems. -- Greg Newby (GGF Editor)
