Nominations sought for OGF Positions

Dear OGF Community - The Open Grid Forum (OGF) Nominations Committee (NOMCOM) is soliciting nominations for open OGF positions. These positions need to be filled to ensure the continued functioning of the OGF Standards function. There are positions open in the following roles: - OGF President (1 position) - Vice President - Standards (1 position) - Vice President - Events for OGF-43, OGF-44, OGF-45 (1 position each) - Area Directors, preferable with focus on Data Management, Clouds, and Federation, but also open at-large (multiple positions) All members of the OGF are eligible to stand for these positions and are encouraged to do so. You can submit your candidate nominations to nomcom(a)ogf.org or to any of the NOMCOM members listed further below. Self-nominations are accepted and encouraged! You can get further information about the positions, the requirements for the positions and the selection process by sending an email to nomcom(a)ogf.org with your questions. Further information is also available at http://redmine.ogf.org/projects/nomcom/wiki/Openings. Terms begin as soon as possible and last for two years. Terms can be extended. Schedule, conference booklet now available for FAS* 2014 conferences including CAC 2014 and OGF 42

A conference booklet including maps, meeting room locations and schedules is now available on the OGF 42 schedule page for the co-located conferences to take place September 8-12, 2014 at Imperial College in London, UK. Note that this includes updates from the printed schedule, so please be sure to check and download the online version, and check back there for any updates. http://www.ogf.org/dokuwiki/doku.php/events/ogf-42/schedule All OGF sessions will be held in room 341 or room 342 in Huxley, which is also the location of the CAC 2014 sessions and our workshops. As a reminder, registration for the CAC 2014 conference includes attendance at all OGF 42 sessions including the welcome reception Tuesday and conference dinner Wednesday evenings, respectively, as well as any CAC 2014 sessions. Note that the other conferences have their own registrations, but all co-located events will come together for the welcome reception Tuesday evening and conference dinner Wednesday evening. In addition, we understand in general that any of the poster sessions will be in common and open to any attendees of the co-located conferences. Reminder: FAS* conferences including Open Grid Forum 42 Sep. 8-12, 2014 at Imperial College in London

Reminder: The Open Grid Forum will meet with all appropriate working and community groups(*) at the International Conference on Cloud and Autonomic Computing (CAC 2014) to take place September 8-12, 2014 at Imperial College in London, UK. Registration for CAC 2014 includes and covers attendance at all OGF 42 co-located sessions including the welcome reception Tuesday and conference dinner Wednesday evenings, respectively. If you have not already done so, please register for this event as soon as possible! Other co-located conferences for this event include the 8th IEEE International Conference on Self-Adaptive and Self-Organizing Systems (SASO 2014) and the14th IEEE International Conference on Peer-to-Peer Computing (P2P’14). In addition to the other activities at these conferences, OGF will host BOF and tutorial sessions, working group and community implementation group meetings on topics related to OGF technologies in a wide variety of areas in advanced distributed computing. Attendees who wish to try out software for the tutorial of the Data Format Description Language (DFDL) may download IBM DFDL (which contains eclipse tooling for creating DFDL schemas and visually testing them) and/or the open source Daffodil implementation ahead of time to use during the tutorial. IBM DFDL may be obtained by downloading and installing the IBM Integration Bus developer edition from the "Getting Started with DFDL page" on IBM developerWorks: http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/library/se-dfdl/ using links near the end of the page. OGF is also co-sponsoring the 2nd International Workshop on Autonomic Management of high performance Grid and Cloud Computing (AMGCC’14) co-located there, to take place on Friday, September 12, 2014, and note that the CAC 2014 conference also includes the 2014 International Workshop on Autonomic Cloud Cybersecurity (ACC '14) to take place Monday, September 8. Many OGF group sessions have been planned, including meetings of the DRMAA, OCCI, JSDL, BES, CAOPS, VOMS-PROC and IDEL working groups and the Federated Security community group, a tutorial and demonstration for the DFDL standard, an OGF Town Hall and a future events planning session, a BoF on “Use of Cloud and Container Technologies in Grids”, along with the other co-located conference poster session, workshops, reception and conference dinner. (*) Note that this time, the OGF NSI working group and its associated activities will be held two weeks later at the Nordunet 2014 conference rather than at OGF 42 itself.
