Call for Session Proposals - OGF 38 sessions at XSEDE 13, July 22-25, 2013, in San Diego, California

Dear OGF working group members, Plans are now in place for members of working groups in OGF Security and Infrastructure (networking) areas to meet at the same location and venue immediately following the Terena Networking Conference (TNC2013) in Maastricht in June. As you know from previous messages, we are referring to this activity as OGF 38a and this is a target of opportunity, as many of the relevant working group members will be there already for the TNC2013 events. Planning is now underway for the next (and main) portion of the OGF 38 activities, which involve working group sessions, BOFs, and associated OGF sessions at the XSEDE 13 conference, July 22-25, 2013, in San Diego, California. The OGF38b program committee seeks active participation from the community, and encourages the submission of session proposals that may include (but are not limited to) the following topics: * Interop/ plugfest sessions * Federated Identity and Delegation * Data/Storage * Identity Management and Virtual Organizations * Production Infrastructure Interoperability * Software Sustainability for Grids and Clouds * Green IT, Energy Efficiency * Inter-cloud interoperability and SLA management * Networking for Distributed Computing Infrastructures * Performance measurement of Grids and Clouds * Science Clouds at large scales * Grid and Cloud Security * Distributed Desktop Grid and Volunteer Computing * Emerging Distributed Infrastructure * Campus Grids and Clouds * Data Management in Grids and Clouds * Federated Infrastrucutre * OGF Chartered Group Sessions * Birds of a Feather (BoF) Sessions OGF 38b will be held in conjunction with XSEDE 13, July 22-25, 2013, in San Diego, California. There will be no separate charge or registration for OGF. OGF is currently slated to have a single track of rooms, and we will organize session requests to make best use of this track. If necessary, we can pursue additional rooms, but would first like to see the expected turnout and utilization for the space we have reserved. Please get your requests in as soon as is reasonable so that we can determine if more than one track is needed. Please select the most appropriate session type for your proposal, whether it is a "Workshop", "Presentation", "OGF Chartered Group", "OGF Birds of a Feather" or "OGF Area Meeting". Reminders for OGF 38a and 38b and workshops; plus News Release: DMTF, ETSI, OASIS, OCEAN, OGF, OW2 and SNIA Announce Cloud Interoperability Week co-located in part with OGF 39

Dear OGF colleagues, As a reminder, the deadline is coming up to register to attend the OGF/GLIF meeting to be held immediately following the Terena Networking Conference (TNC2013) in Jun win Maastricht, which we have designated as "OGF 38a", and also regular registration rates end soon for XSEDE 2013 to be held July 22-25 in San Diego, California. On behalf of the cooperating group of cloud standards organizations and open source communities sponsoring this event, I would like to call your attention to the press release just put out by DMTF, ETSI, OASIS, OCEAN, OGF, OW2 and SNIA to announce their joint Cloud Interoperability Week Sep. 16-20, 2013: http://www.cloudplugfest.org/cloud-interoperability-week/press-release-1 This is a significant development in that multiple cloud-oriented SDOs are cooperating on interoperability demonstrations, workshops and conferences in cooperation with user communities and projects in the open source and commercial communities. Registration information for this event will be posted as soon as it is available. OGF encourages, endorses and promotes participation in this event, part of which will be co-located with OGF's 39th all-hands face-to-face meeting (OGF39) September 16-18, 2013 and the EGI Technical Forum in Medilla, Spain. The workshop and associated Cloud Plugfest are expected to continue through the rest of that week, and there will be a parallel Cloud Plugfest activities in conjunction with the SNIA Storage Developers Workshop that same week in Santa Clara, California. We would like to invite the OGF community and associated or related projects to participate energetically and enthusiastically in the Cloud Plugfest activities and to propose further sessions and locations at which further events like this can be held. Early registration deadline coming up May 5 for XSEDE'13 = OGF38 part b PLUS information on OGF38 a and b

Dear colleagues, A noted in earlier messages, OGF’s second event of 2013, OGF-38, will be held in two parts. - OGF38a, June 6-7, will be co-located with and immediately following the Terena Networking ConferenceJune 3-6, 2013 in Maastricht, Netherlands. http://www.ogf.org/dokuwiki/doku.php/events/ogf-38a - OGF38b will be co-located with and part of XSEDE-2013, which takes place July 22-25, 2013 in San Diego, California, USA. http://www.ogf.org/dokuwiki/doku.php/events/ogf-38b We have updated the information on the events pages and added some detail about OGF 38a and OGF 38b. OGF 39 will follow in September 2013, co-located with the EGI Technical Forum. Note that the early registration deadline for XSEDE'13 is this Sunday, May 5 -- remarkably early! The TNC2013 registration price break deadline is also not too far away (May 24). Registration is NOT necessary for TNC2013 in order to attend the OGF38a OGF/GLIF joint event, but may make sense for those interested in this topic anyway to attend. Registration IS necessary to attend XSEDE'13 for OGF 38b. You may notice that the pages linked above are part of a new system we are bringing up under the guidance and direction of Andre Merzky that will eventually replace the old manual script-based pages for OGF. As time goes on, we will be filling out even more detail on this new set of pages and they will take over from the previous pages. We are excited about the opportunity this will provide to showcase OGF technologies and standards in a more flexible way in the future. Stay tuned for more information on this topic.
