OGF members and affiliates: Three documents have begun public comment. Please consider reading and providing feedback on them. Brief affirmations are very useful to demonstrate community input and support. More detailed analysis is also, of course, welcome. Dear OGF working groups and members: Here is the link for OGF 32. Save the dates! OGF32 Salt Lake City, Utah USA July 15-18, 2011 OGF32 will be co-located with Teragrid 11 in Salt Lake City, Utah July 15-18, 2011. Teragrid 11 will take place during the subsequent week, July 18-21, 2011, with a day of overlap and possible other working group meetings during the Teragrid week. (We do hope to get most of OGF 32 done during the 15th-18th, though.) OGF32 will feature OGF chartered group and BoF sessions, as well as presentations and workshops on various topics in distributed computing. In addition, we plan to host a joint "International Workshop on Science Agency Uses of Clouds and Grids" at the same location on the overlap day between OGF 32 and TG'11, July 18 2011 at the same location. Link: http://ogf.org/OGF32/ Hope to see everyone there! Just FYI, here are some other upcoming meetings and work: OGF 33 is being planned for Lyon in September, and OGF 34 is being discussed. In addition, we have a variety of opportunities for OGF work groups to meet at co-sponsored and joint events that are not full OGF meetings but may allow you opportunities to participate and meet with your working group partners. These include the IEEE CloudCom 2011 meeting in Athens Nov. 29 - Dec. 1, and closer at hand, a full meeting of all OGF cloud-related groups at the DMTF Alliance Partners meeting May 16-20 in Boulder, Colorado. There will also be SIENA meetings and other work group opportunities of interest. Our standards and related OGF documents come from the processes that start at meetings like these, and we are very interested in seeing and promoting continuous progress for the benefit of the community on these work products. If you haven't taken a look at our OGF output recently, you might be interested in looking at http://ogf.org/documents and noting just how extraordinarily productive you as an OGF community and as individual participants have been lately. Don't forget also to check on what needs current attention in the Public Comment area! I hope to see all of you at one event or another. FINAL REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Please register no later than Tuesday, April 12 to attend this event! Immediately following Globus World 2011 and CCA'11, the Open Grid Forum sponsored by the US Department of Energy office of Advanced Scientific Computing Research would like to invite you to attend the separate Workshop on High Performance Applications of Cloud and Grid Tools (HPACG) April 14, 2011, to be held at the same location. The event is open to all participants and will last form 8:30 to noon. About the workshop: We have attracted a number of talks from high-profile current projects and believe that you will find these topics to be both timely and important. We expect to have presentations on the Nimbus and Cumulus projects from Argonne, security and authN/authZ topics from the Fermi Cloud, information on the use of Condor at the scale of tens of thousands of processors running both on Amazon EC2 and on Open Science Grid, recent work from the Open Grid Forum including the recently released Open Cloud Computing Interface (OCCI) and other newly released standards; detailed information on high-speed on-demand networking from Internet2, and use of Clouds for advanced digital library search engines (the CiteSee project). In addition, we will have a roundtable on current status of these tools to avoid this being simply "another set of talks." We are very pleased with the quality, type and breadth of the Workshop and hope that your plans (or local proximity) can allow you to stay until Thursday. OCCI Core & Models and Infrastructure documents released

Dear OGF Board and WG participants: We would like to inform you that the Open Cloud Computing Interface Core & Models and Infrastructure specification documents, GFD.183 and GFD.184, were published today as OGF Proposed Recommendations and are now available for downloading on the <http://ogf.org/documents> http://ogf.org/documents site. We are very proud of all of the accomplishments of all OGF work groups and of the entire OGF document series. Thank you for all of your work, regardless of the work group or area in which you are making contributions. OCCI represents the work of a dedicated set of participants that deserves highlighting, however, and that opens up a significant set of opportunities for new work in OGF in the area of cloud computing. Here for your information is some of the text that we have been using in announcing the release of the first two documents in the series. The next document covering the HTTP rendering just completed its public comment period and should be completed and ready for publication shortly. OCCI is a general-purpose set of specifications for cloud-based interactions with resources in a way that is explicitly vendor-independent, platform-neutral and can be extended to solve a broad variety of problems in cloud computing. The OCCI specification set is a product of the Open Grid Forum. OGF is a leading development organization for open standards in the area of distributed networking, computing and storage with an emphasis on technologies for large-scale distributed computing. OGF develops its standards through an open process that gathers input and contributions from the community and refines them through peer review and public comment to produce standards, guidance and information of value to the community through the Grid Final Document (GFD) series. We are very proud of OCCI and think that it provides an important and timely set of contributions to cloud computing technology that is already gathering great interest and rapid evidence of adoption by a broad range of participants in the cloud computing community. Congratulations to the OCCI working group and its participants. Registration for HPACG workshop April 14

Workshop on High Performance Applications of Cloud and Grid Tools Update: Registration We have a registration page up now as linked at the following location. At this point we are planning a morning and an afternoon session, with the morning session devoted to presentations and discussion on cloud and grid tools and the afternoon one devoted to a planning meeting for the upcoming larger OGF 32 / Teragrid 2011 one on Clouds and Grids in Science Agency Missions. http://www.ogf.org/HPACG/registration.php The morning session will go from 8:30 am to noon, including breaks, and a lunch will be provided for all participants. The afternoon one is for those we have asked to help serve on the planning committee for the next workshop, and will last from 1 to 3 pm. While attendance at the workshop itself is free, we request you to register in advance in order to allow us to plan adequately for breaks and the meal.
