Subversion repositories available; public comment period for FiTP extended

We have fixed some fairly major bugs that accrued in the access methods for the repositories associated with our GridForge groups and projects. These are now, as far as we can tell, under control and GridForge is availalble again with full access to its online source code repository viewing and command-line or remote client subversion authenticated checkout and commit functions. A similar but different bug prevented public comment logon for some users at the www.ogf.org documents Public Comment pages. That has been addressed, and to account for the fact that this may have interfered with the public comment period for the Firewall Traversal Protocol (FiTP) document currently under review by the GFSG, the public comment period for this document has been extended until January 9, 2012. http://ogf.org/gf/docs/?public_comment Please review this document over the holidays or early in the year, and let us know if you encounter any difficulties in posting comments. The "Task manager" functions in GridForge are still offline. The subversion repository access has been switched from http to https to protect account credentials in transit. As a result, you will have to change your access to any given repository accordingly. The command to do so for any working directory you may have already checked out is as follows (thank to Andre Merzky for providing this): svn switch --relocate http://forge.ogf.org/svn/repos/(your repos) \ https://forge.ogf.org/svn/repos/(your repos) The certificate supporting this is a self-signed one for now; we plan to replace this with a commercial certificate shortly. Hi Steve, Yes, as announced previously we are in the process of transferring it to new hosting. The basic structure and contents have been transferred, but there could be extended periods of outage while we resolve remaining inconsistencies and tweak the results for stability. The same will be true later this week -- perhaps as early as today -- for the www.ogf.org main web site and for the milling lists. We do not expect to lose any content, but there could be outages while the services are moved. Dear OGF and related colleagues, For those of you who may wish to participate in review of the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Cloud Computing Technology Roadmap, please note that comments are due by December 2, 2011 on the current, nearly final version. Information on the roadmap Volumes I and II is below. Please use the comment template as in the indicated link to provide your comments. This is a valuable and important part of community review of these documents, to which we have provided significant input as they have been developed over the past year to 18 months. Review and comment are expected and invited from both US-based and non- US participants on an open basis.While the primary emphasis of this effort is on understanding, categorizing and providing a proper description of cloud computing for the US Federal government, the NIST definitions and categorizations have already been picked up by many other organizations and countries, and are of interest on a wider basis. In the US, the primary emphasis on understanding of cloud computing for scientific settings is being carried out with the help of the US National IT R&D Large Scale Networking group through its Middleware and Grid Infrastructure Coordination (MAGIC) group. We have had many positive interactions with the MAGIC effort within OGF, and have run two successful workshops on cloud and grid related topics that you may want to look at in preparing your responses.
