1. GridWorld Registration and Programs
2. Nominations for At-Large Board Members
3. OGF Update
----------------------
1. Early Bird registration for GridWorld/GGF18 (Sept. 11-14, Washington DC)
ends July 28, so please register today to obtain the maximum savings. This
year's GridWorld is comprised of multiple programs including a
business-level Solutions program, a more in-depth Technology Program, and
GGF's well-established Community and Standards program. To register for the
GGF18 portion of the event, browse to
http://www.gridworld.com/live/42/register and select the Community and
Standards program. The Community Program content may be reviewed at:
http://www.ggf.org/gf/event_schedule/. The Standards sessions will be
posted soon to this page. GGF/EGA have teamed with IDG and GlobusWorld to
provide high-quality content in the Technology and Solutions program as
well. You should consider upgrading your registration package to include
these programs as well. The content of these programs may be viewed at
http://www.gridworld.com.
2. The deadline for At-Large Board member nominations is July 31. Members
appointed to the board provide guidance and oversight through their active
leadership and participation. At-large board members represent essential
voices from our community - helping to provide balance, insight and
expertise during board deliberations to enable the success of our mission.
I invite you to participate in this essential process by visiting
http://www.ogf.org/bod_election/nomination.php before July 31 and nominating
individuals (self-nominations are accepted) to be considered as At-large
members of the board. For more information on the entire Board appointment
process, please visit

3. On July 1, Open Grid Forum officially opened its doors and much has been
accomplished in the last month. Over 1/3 of the former GGF and EGA
organizational members have already committed to membership in OGF with more
committing each week. Nine of these organizations have given written or
verbal commitments to Platinum (highest) level membership. Several merger
integration projects are in progress ranging from a website upgrade to the
formation of the Technical Strategy Committee (TSC) to planning for our
formal "launch" at the GridWorld/GGF18 event. Standards Area Directors are
meeting today and tomorrow in London to discuss near-term direction and how
to increase the momentum that has made GGF's document series grow
significantly in the last 12 months with high-quality specifications.
Community leadership is refining its strategy for high-impact activities at
GridWorld including a great community program as well as a new effort to
engage grid vendors in the adoption of grid specifications. In short, OGF
is continuing the good work GGF has done for the last several years and,
with the infusion of EGA leadership, technical groups and enterprise focus,
is becoming an organization that will deliver results faster, communicate
more clearly, and enable better collaboration. Stay tuned for more updates
in the near future.
