GGF17 Call for Participation GGF is now accepted proposals for the GGF17 program to be held on 10-12 May in Tokyo, Japan. This event is collocated with the 3rd Grid World Exhibition being held on 11-12 May in the Tokyo International Forum. GGF Community Announcement

Members of GGF and EGA: We are pleased to announce that on February 6 the EGA and the GGF signed a non-binding Letter of Intent (LOI) to merge, bringing together two leading grid organizations with a shared mission and common values. This LOI has been approved by both the GGF's Grid Forum Steering Group (GFSG) and the EGA Board of Directors. It was the result of hundreds of hours spent developing and agreeing upon an overall merger framework based upon a set of guiding principles for success. We expect the benefits to our members and the grid community to include: . The ability to move quickly to create standards and architectures that will accelerate grid adoption . A clearer voice for communicating our views, direction, progress and results . More effective collaboration with other grid organizations, industry and government bodies, vendors and research organizations For now, a joint team will begin merger transition planning, with the expected result of a new, merged organization in summer 2006. Finally, we want to stress that until the merger is concluded, each organization will continue to operate independently. This will preserve the continuity of work including all technical, marketing and membership activities. Please watch for additional news from your respective organizations in the coming weeks. For GGF16 attendees in Athens, and other interested persons: you can now find all document drafts scheduled for discussion at GGF16 in one place. Visit this link: http://www.ggf.org/gf/docs/drafts.php That page goes to all the documents submitted as agenda items by Working Group/Research Group chairs. Filenames are not quite standard (I hope we can have better use of IETF-style filenames in the future), and this is not quite "one click to download all." But this central repository has been a goal for your humble Editor, in cooperation with the Process-WG, as well as the Grid Forum Steering Group (GFSG) as a whole. Helm GFD #: GFD-C.062 Download link: http://www.ggf.org/ggf_docs_final.htm Abstract: This document provides a template that can be used to develop a charter for a Grid Policy Management Authority [GPMA] The GPMA is responsible for the management of a "Grid Public Key Infrastructure" [GPKI] and its associated "Grid Certificate Authorities" [GCA]. GPMAs will serve as the points of contact for GPKIs that wish to interoperate.
