Hi, In case anyone is interested, this conference includes Scientific Workflows in the list of topics. -Ewa CALL FOR PAPERS ************************************************ 13th Annual Mardi Gras Conference-- Frontiers of Grid Applications and Technologies 3-5 February 2005 Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA http://www.mardigrasconference.org ************************************************ The Center for Computation & Technology at LSU is hosting the 13th Mardi Gras Conference, February 3rd to 5th 2005, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Mardi Gras conferences take place annually, concentrating each year on a different computational theme of current relevance. This years conference, titled Frontiers of Grid Applications and Technologies, will focus on Grid Computing, particularly how applications are exploiting emerging Grid and distributed computing environments as well as the supporting and enabling Grid technologies. Scope Grid Computing is an increasingly important field of computer science, promising a world where shared scientific research computers and instruments, experimental data, numerical simulations, analysis tools, research and development, as well as people, are closely coordinated and integrated in "virtual organizations". While Grid technologies and infrastructure are rapidly being developed and are now maturing through the guidance of bodies such as the Global Grid Forum, focus now needs to be turned towards the applications which will run in these new environments. Existing applications need to be adapted and tuned to exploit Grids, and more importantly new generations of applications need to be designed and developed to take full advantage of the possibilities of distributed infrastructures and collaborative working. We are seeking papers and posters of relevance to Grid and peer-to-peer applications and infrastructure, including but not limited to o Case studies of applications, including compute-, data- or network-intensive, collaborative, and tele-immersive. o Innovative and advanced scenarios, including dynamic data-driven, interactive and adaptive. o Application APIs and programming models o High speed and optical networks o Tools for developing and deploying applications. o Middleware and toolkits o Problem solving environments o Building and managing production environments o Virtual organizations o Scientific workflow o Resource management and scheduling o Portals and collaborative environments o Education Keynote Speakers To be provided Important Dates Submission deadline: 6th December 2004 Acceptance notification: 20th December 2004 Final papers due: 11th January 2005 Pre-conference registration closes: 11th January 2005 Conference dates: 3rd to 5th February 2005 Paper Submission The organizers invite authors to submit original and unpublished work as well as outstanding "work-in-progress" papers. Authors are invited to submit papers of not more than 6 pages of double column text using=20 single spaced 10 point size type on 8.5 x 11 inch pages, as per IEEE 8.5 x 11 manuscript guidelines, see http://www.computer.org/cspress/instruct.htm. Authors should submit a PostScript (level 2) or PDF file that will print on a PostScript printer. Electronic submission by email is strongly encouraged. Hard copies should be sent only if electronic submission is not possible. Submission implies the willingness of at least one of the authors to register and present the paper. Please email your papers to organizers@mardigrasconference.org, which is the preferred method for submission. Put "Paper Submission" in the subject of the email. All papers selected for this workshop are peer-reviewed and will be published as a part of the conference proceedings. It is expected that selected papers will be extended and published in a special journal=20 issue. Demonstration Session One session of the conference will be devoted to talks that include as part of the presentation a live demonstration of Grid applications=20 and/or Grid technologies. Papers to propose demonstration presentations should follow the format of the paper submission section above, with a page=20 limit of 3 pages, and will be part of the conference proceedings. A separate document of up to two pages should describe the proposed demonstration=20 and any networking or other requirements. For more information on the demonstration session, contact Dr Gerald Baumgartner at gb@csc.lsu.edu. Poster Submission Authors are encouraged to submit a title and abstract for posters. Each accepted poster presenter will be provided with a 36" x 48" tri-fold poster board. Wireless networking will be available during poster=20 sessions. Poster set up starts at 8:00 a.m. on Friday, February 4. Dismantling of poster displays will begin Saturday, February 5 at 8:00 a.m. and must be completed by Noon on Saturday. For more information on posters, contact Dr Seung-Jong Park at sjpark@bit.csc.lsu.edu. Associated Meetings Open Science Grid Workshop and GridSphere Meeting Registration Fees Advanced registration, $175.00 Late/on-site registration, $225.00 To qualify for advance registration discounts, your registration form=20 and payment must be received by midnight, January 11, 2005. Registration received after January 11 will be charged at the late/on-site=20 registration rate. Registration and more information: http://www.mardigrasconference.org Schedule Conference sessions will be held for full days on Thursday, 3rd February and Friday, 4th February, and for the morning of Saturday, 5th February. On Saturday afternoon an excursion will take participants to join in the celebrations for Mardi Gras in New Orleans, returning to Baton Rouge on Sunday morning at approximately 2 a.m. A full program will be available at a later time.
