Call for Papers Special Issue of the International Journal of Web Services Research (IJWSR) On Web Services Discovery and Composition Systems Submission Deadline: November 30, 2005 Using service-oriented computing approaches (i.e. web services), the capabilities of organizations can be openly exposed, easily searched and discovered, and made readily-accessible to humans and particularly to machines. Artificial intelligence and software engineering researchers alike are intrigued by the promise of ubiquitously discovering and incorporating services into their own business processes (i.e. composition and orchestration). With growing acceptance of service-oriented computing, an emerging area of research is the investigation of technologies that will enable the discovery and composition of web services. This proposed special issue solicits high-quality papers on software components and/or intelligent agents that can discover pertinent web services and compose them to create higher-level functionality. For this special issue, all the submitted manuscripts will undergo a rigorous peer-reviewing process and the selection criteria include both the system design's elegancy as well as its practicability. Each manuscript should include the evaluation section on the effectiveness of the proposed approach based on a given Web services repository. Repositories and example software are available at http://ws-challenge.georgetown.edu/ . Alternatively, authors may submit the repository used in their evaluation. This will provide a uniform section in each paper that will allow readers to understand the benefits and limitations of the variety of approaches that were implemented. The readers of this special issue will get an understanding of the benefits and limitations of various approaches for composing web services using Web Service Description Language (WSDL) files. Paper submissions should be full research papers, typically between 17-27 journal pages. By automating the management of experiment routines, a scientific workflow management system hides the underlying integration details of the e-Science resources and allows a scientist to focus on the high level domain specific aspects of the experiments. This challenge can be addressed only by a tight integration of service-oriented development within new business models and new ways of management that are able to exploit new technological solutions. Moreover, web service technology is still emerging, and therefore their industry-wide adoption requires to inject research results within real industry practices, but, even more important, to drive research activities and roadmaps according to industrial needs. The aim of this workshop is to bring together researchers, practitioners, and experts in business models and management and to promote cross-fertilization among their competencies, focusing on the usage of service oriented technologies to support the Business Processes Integration (BPI). The goal is to build bridges and convergences among the complementary views of experts in IT and service oriented technologies and experts in management, and the different approaches of academy and industry, to the problem of business processes integration. Hello everyone, Sorry for the lack of communication, but my personal life kept me very busy lately. As you know GGF15 will be in Boston October 3-6. I initially thought that we could have a workshop at this GGF but it is coming up very fast and the timeline may be just too short. However, I would like to have a session or two at this GGF. What would be good to do at this point is to decide on the topics people want to discuss. So, could you please send your ideas to the mailing list.
