Dear all, I have requested a session of 1.5 hours at next OGF in Brussels asking preferably for the 28th or 29th. I hope we can all make it there and continue the discussion. In the meanwhile we could try to collect some request from the users and try to put all the informations together. Cheers, Andrea -- Andrea Cristofori INFN-CNAF Viale Berti Pichat 6/2 40127 Bologna Italy Tel. : +39-051-6092920 Skype: andrea-cnaf
Andrea, those days are good for me. I cannot make 27th. Thanks, John

Ok, I hope to attend this, but isn't quite sure yet. Is there an agenda? What will be discussed of UR2, AUR, and storage accounting record?
In the meanwhile we could try to collect some request from the users and try to put all the informations together.
I have a list of extensions from the SGAS project (I'm the accounting guy at NDGF, and the main SGAS developer) to the usage record standard which I will post to this list. I also have a use case for aggregation (how it is done in SGAS), and some (very) prelimary ideas of what should be recorded in a storage accounting record, which NDGF is starting to look into. Regarding storage accounting, there is an initiative in EMI for creating a record specification at the end of this year (most of you are probably aware of this). Their web is at: https://twiki.cern.ch/twiki/bin/view/EMI/StorageAccounting Best regards, Henrik Software Developer, Henrik Thostrup Jensen <htj at ndgf.org> Nordic Data Grid Facility. Hi Henrik,

I've added those points in the agenda: - Requests from the users - UR for Storage Accounting discussion - AUR discussion - AOB It is not really fixed so we can talk more of one aspect or the other or add something if necessary. I only added the points that, I think, we should necessarily discuss at least to have an idea in which way we should proceed.
In the meanwhile we could try to collect some request from the users and try to put all the informations together.

I think that this will be very useful in the discussion. As I was in fact suggesting we should try to gather requests from different groups. I think that the standard, to be effective, should incorporate, as far as possible, as many features that are already used or desirable.

I see from the agenda that for the first of october EMI plans a phone conference to discuss "Storage Accounting". I'll try to be present to hear what are the plans, idea, etc. Andrea
Best regards, Henrik

Hi Andrea, Thanks for organizing this, I hope I can make the meeting, I still need to get the green light. We had a workshop here at the beginning of the week and I had a brief talk to people who deploy iRODS about their accounting. It may be basic but I was told they can generate accounting information quickly from the iRODS catalogue. So some home grown solutions exist. I intend to chase this up and also try to get the view of the iRODS developers, basically to see if they have storage accounting in mind. cheers johnk
Cheers, Andrea

Hi John, Thank you. I think that then we can try to collect all the information, together with SGAS and maybe something else and try to map the common things before OGF and if possible start to discuss. Andrea On 09/24/2010 04:23 PM, john alan kennedy wrote:
