At the UR-WG meeting at GGF16 last week, we discussed the problem that the current chairs of UR-WG are no longer active in GGF. The consensus of the meeting was that the current chairs need to be replaced. Laura McGinnis was nominated as the new chair of UR-WG, accepted the nomination, and had unanimous support from the meeting. Indeed, Laura has effectively been acting chair for some time. This decision needs to be confirmed on the list, and ratified by the GFSG. If you have any comments on or objections to this course of action, or would like to nominate an alternative or additional chair (self-nominations welcome), now is the time to speak. You may do so on this list, or by private communication to your Area Directors. (UR-WG is in the Management Area, and its Area Directors are Hiro Kishimoto and John Tollefsrud). I would like to take the new chairs proposal to the GFSG, which next meets on Tuesday. So please make any comments by Monday.
