To enable wireless pervasive computing, it is necessary to integrate technologies from the fields of distributed computing, networking, communications and signal processing. The aim of this symposium is to provide a platform for researchers in the area of wireless pervasive computing and related areas to showcase their results, launch new ideas, as well as to interact with other researchers. The scope of this symposium covers concepts and all enabling technologies of wireless pervasive computing. This includes a huge variety of topics ranging from wireless communications and networking to services and applications of pervasive computing. A series of panel and tutorials will also seek to inform and invoke interaction among researchers. Prospective authors are invited to submit original technical papers for presentation at the conference. Full papers have to be submitted via EDAS. The maximum number of pages allowed is six. Proposals for tutorials are also solicited, addressing emerging topics that relate to technical issues in wireless communications and applications. Selected papers presented at ISWPC 2012 extended by at least 30% will be recommended for possible publication in a Special Issue of International Journal of Internet Protocol Technology (IJIPT), an SCOPUS indexed journal. Such "any" computers open tremendous opportunities to provide numerous novel services/applications in both real world and cyber spaces, and exist ubiquitously in our daily life, working, learning, traveling, entertainment, medicine, etc. Although it is yet unclear what exactly the real-cyber integrated worlds would be, there is no doubt that they must be safe. The 4th IEEE International Symposium on Ubisafe Computing (UbiSafe-12) will be held in conjunction with "The 11th IEEE International Conference on Trust, Security and Privacy in Computing and Communications (IEEE TrustCom-12)". It follows the success of UbiSafe-11 in Changsha, China. It aims at bringing together researchers and practitioners in the world working on theories and technologies for ubiquitous artifacts to function safely for different purposes; for ubiquitous systems to work safely in various situations; and for ubiquitous environments to behave safely with all people. Papers should be written in English conforming to the IEEE conference proceedings format (8.5" x 11", Two-Column). Papers should be submitted through the paper submission system at the symposium website. Each paper is limited to 6 pages (or 8 pages with the over length charge). Distinguished papers, after further revisions, will be published in special issues indexed by SCI and EI. Submitting a paper to the symposium means that, if the paper is accepted, at least one author should attend the symposium and present the paper. Indeed, autonomous applications embedded in complex configurations and dynamic environments have rapidly expanded from classical applications where different modular devices, actuators and sensors interact closely. This has impacted considerably the control of a given system in a centralized manner. Current trends are to propose new autonomic architecture schemes that manage and control future emerging networks: sky of clouds, Internet of things, Smart Grids, etc. Healthcare and wellness applications such as helping elderly people, assisting dependent persons, habitat monitoring in a smart environment constitute some of the potential scenarios of convergence between autonomous systems and smart network technologies. These applications, (which are based on high-level commands) accomplish some specific tasks, reveal new challenges regarding mechanic design, portability, acceptability, power support and efficiency, control theory, etc. In addition to portability and low-power systems, which are vital challenges that limit substantially the efficiency of any autonomous system based application; network paradigms should also take into account issues related to cost, scalability and security. This workshop will highlight the overlapping of these two domains of autonomous systems and the smart network technologies devoted for different applications for a large variety of domains: Healthcare, Medical, Underwater, Vehicular, Robotic, etc. Issues related to concepts, new technologies, testbeds and trials, and protocols will elicit particular attention. All submitted papers will be rigorously reviewed and we will select papers based on their originality, timeliness, significance, and relevance to the workshop. All accepted papers must be presented and at least on author needs to register for the paper to be included in the workshop proceedings. To enable wireless pervasive computing, it is necessary to integrate technologies from the fields of distributed computing, networking, communications and signal processing. The aim of this symposium is to provide a platform for researchers in the area of wireless pervasive computing and related areas to showcase their results, launch new ideas, as well as to interact with other researchers. The scope of this symposium covers concepts and all enabling technologies of wireless pervasive computing. This includes a huge variety of topics ranging from wireless communications and networking to services and applications of pervasive computing. A series of panel and tutorials will also seek to inform and invoke interaction among researchers. Prospective authors are invited to submit original technical papers for presentation at the conference. Full papers have to be submitted via EDAS. The maximum number of pages allowed is six. Proposals for tutorials are also solicited, addressing emerging topics that relate to technical issues in wireless communications and applications. The management of content distribution services is an important key to attract and keep customers, while increasing profits to content providers. So far these developments have been focusing on the entertainment sector and attracting attention from main multimedia markets. However, in other industrial areas multimedia services are becoming more and more important. Examples are security and property protection (e.g. CCTV), traffic control and guidance systems, healthcare systems, industrial process control, corporate communication, advertising, etc. Therefore, the resulting complexity and dynamics of content networks require special solutions in order to provide efficient delivery and deployment of real-time multimedia services. Further, emerging diverse and heterogeneous wired and wireless systems is a challenging research objective. The interoperability of applications, transport and network protocols, as well as, the demand for improved Quality of Service (QoS) and Quality of Experience (QoE), and seamless mobility control creates a challenging study field and also possibilities for research of novel communication protocols, architectures and methods towards Future Multimedia Networking Systems. Thus, one major challenge is the ever growing complexity of communication management and network maintenance. Solutions are required in which services, management and administration entities interact and behave autonomously, with the overall goal of creating multimedia/content/service/people-centric networks. The objective of The Fourth Future Multimedia Networking (FNM 2012) workshop is to discuss state-of-the-art research and developing activities contributing to aspects of multimedia systems, and networking. This year’s theme is “Future Multimedia Networking: Entertainment and Beyond”. The goal is to look beyond the challenges arising from entertainment services also considering the specific requirements coming from other domains. Therefore FMN 2012 will also promote some novel topics specifically focusing on these areas.
