To enable wireless pervasive computing, it is necessary to integrate technologies from the fields of distributed computing, networking, communications and signal processing. The aim of this symposium is to provide a platform for researchers in the area of wireless pervasive computing and related areas to showcase their results, launch new ideas, as well as to interact with other researchers. The scope of this symposium covers concepts and all enabling technologies of wireless pervasive computing. This includes a huge variety of topics ranging from wireless communications and networking to services and applications of pervasive computing. A series of panel and tutorials will also seek to inform and invoke interaction among researchers. Prospective authors are invited to submit original technical papers for presentation at the conference. Full papers have to be submitted via EDAS. The maximum number of pages allowed is six. Proposals for tutorials are also solicited, addressing emerging topics that relate to technical issues in wireless communications and applications. Selected papers presented at ISWPC 2012 extended by at least 30% will be recommended for possible publication in a Special Issue of International Journal of Internet Protocol Technology (IJIPT), an SCOPUS indexed journal. Such "any" computers open tremendous opportunities to provide numerous novel services/applications in both real world and cyber spaces, and exist ubiquitously in our daily life, working, learning, traveling, entertainment, medicine, etc. Although it is yet unclear what exactly the real-cyber integrated worlds would be, there is no doubt that they must be safe. The 4th IEEE International Symposium on Ubisafe Computing (UbiSafe-12) will be held in conjunction with "The 11th IEEE International Conference on Trust, Security and Privacy in Computing and Communications (IEEE TrustCom-12)". It follows the success of UbiSafe-11 in Changsha, China. It aims at bringing together researchers and practitioners in the world working on theories and technologies for ubiquitous artifacts to function safely for different purposes; for ubiquitous systems to work safely in various situations; and for ubiquitous environments to behave safely with all people. Scope and Interests IEEE UbiSafe-12 is an international symposium for presenting and discussing emerging ideas and trends in aspects of UbiSafe computing, but are not limited to: (1) Fundamentals UbiSafe concepts, definitions, basic elements, models, frameworks and methodologies, human-centric paradigms, multi-disciplinary/inter-disciplinary/trans-disciplinary approaches, semantics, ontologies, UbiSafe requirements and formal specifications and validations, information assurance, etc. (2) Technologies Security and privacy protection, reliability and fault tolerance, risk analysis, uncertainty and exception handling, socially intelligent agents, intuitive/natural user interface, interaction design, context-awareness, intelligent computing, service-oriented computing, hardware, software, middleware, etc. (3) Systems Embedded systems, wearable systems, augmented systems, context-based systems, communication systems, safety-critical systems, survivable systems, persistent systems, autonomous/autonomic systems, proactive systems, network infrastructure, sensor networks, etc. (4) Applications Smart objects, smart environments, information appliance and artifacts, everyday gadgets, robots, safety care, healthcare, medical care and services, working, learning, traveling, entertainment, case studies, etc. (5) Measures and Assessments UbiSafe attributes and measures for safety, trust, faith, amenity, easiness, comfort, satisfaction and worry, UbiSafe levels and relations, UbiSafe quality, assessment criteria and authority, subjective and objective assessment standards, evaluation methodologies, testing, measuring and monitoring tools, etc. (6) Human Factors and Social Issues Human and social aspects of UbiSafe, UbiSafe sources and factors, social rules, regulations and laws, human factors, human behavior analysis, modeling of human feelings, traditional and cultural issues, ethical issues, etc. Submission and Publication Information The accepted papers from this symposium will be published by IEEE Computer Society in IEEE TrustCom-12 conference proceedings (indexed by EI Compendex). Papers should be written in English conforming to the IEEE conference proceedings format (8.5" x 11", Two-Column). Papers should be submitted through the paper submission system at the symposium website. Each paper is limited to 6 pages (or 8 pages with the over length charge). Distinguished papers, after further revisions, will be published in special issues indexed by SCI and EI. Submitting a paper to the symposium means that, if the paper is accepted, at least one author should attend the symposium and present the paper. SaCoNaS), the scope of SaCoNet-III focused on how smart communications has affect some aspects (protocols, design, equipment, algorithms, paradigm, power, etc.) for a large family of applications (Healthcare, Medical, Underwater, Vehicular, Robotic, etc.) using network technologies (Sensor Networks, MANET, VANET, etc.). The objective is to deal with the growing overlap between both autonomous systems and the future generation of network technologies embedded in Internet and cloud computing for a wide variety of applications (underwater, vehicular, medical, robotic, etc.). Indeed, autonomous applications embedded in complex configurations and dynamic environments have rapidly expanded from classical applications where different modular devices, actuators and sensors interact closely. This has impacted considerably the control of a given system in a centralized manner. Current trends are to propose new autonomic architecture schemes that manage and control future emerging networks: sky of clouds, Internet of things, Smart Grids, etc. Healthcare and wellness applications such as helping elderly people, assisting dependent persons, habitat monitoring in a smart environment constitute some of the potential scenarios of convergence between autonomous systems and smart network technologies. These applications, (which are based on high-level commands) accomplish some specific tasks, reveal new challenges regarding mechanic design, portability, acceptability, power support and efficiency, control theory, etc. In addition to portability and low-power systems, which are vital challenges that limit substantially the efficiency of any autonomous system based application; network paradigms should also take into account issues related to cost, scalability and security. This workshop will highlight the overlapping of these two domains of autonomous systems and the smart network technologies devoted for different applications for a large variety of domains: Healthcare, Medical, Underwater, Vehicular, Robotic, etc. Issues related to concepts, new technologies, testbeds and trials, and protocols will elicit particular attention. All submitted papers will be rigorously reviewed and we will select papers based on their originality, timeliness, significance, and relevance to the workshop. All accepted papers must be presented and at least on author needs to register for the paper to be included in the workshop proceedings.
