CALL FOR PAPERS ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -- The 1st International Workshop "Semantic Information Integration on Knowledge Discovery" - (SIIK 2006) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -- http://www.ares-conf.org/siik in conjunction with the 8th International Conference on Information Integration and Web Based Applications & Services (iiWAS2006)-http://www.iiwas.org/conferences/iiwas2006/ 4-6 December 2006, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Introduction ------------- Knowledge Discovery has been widely accepted as a key technology for enterprises and organizations to improve their abilities in data analysis, decision support, and the automatic extraction of knowledge from data. With the exponential growing amount of information to be included in the decision making process, the data to be considered becomes more and more complex in both structure and semantics, located in heterogeneous and distributed systems. Furthermore, the explosive growth and popularity of the world-wide web has resulted in a huge number of information sources on the Internet. Consequently, the process of retrieval and knowledge discovery from this huge amount of heterogeneous complex data builds the litmus-test for the research in the area. Information Integration subsumes all technologies needed to provide form manipulation of information scattered over many information systems while supporting a single system image. Information integration has been a long standing challenge for the database community in the last decades. Although there are several distinct research and development areas explicitly or implicitly addressing data integration, the schematic and semantic heterogeneity is still one of the most difficulties in the integration of heterogeneous knowledge and information systems - one of the perquisite steps of knowledge discovery process. The purpose of this workshop is to bring together researchers, developers, and practitioners to present their recent work, discuss and identify problems, synergize different views of techniques and policies, and brainstorm future research/development directions on semantic information integration used in knowledge discovery. The research on progress, draft idea, architecture submissions are also welcome. Particularly, we strongly encourage submissions dealing with real world applications such as information integration in science information systems, health-care systems, e-government, e-commerce, workflow management systems, web information systems, etc. Topics of interests ------------------- The topics of the workshop include, but are not limited to: - Standards based Information Integration - Managing metadata for information integration - Semantic Integration - Information extraction - Information quality/data cleaning - Resolving inconsistency across sources - Ontologies for Information Integration - Ontology mapping and merging - Schema mapping/evaluating/integrating - On-the-fly Integration - Secure Information Integration - Information Integration architectures - Reviews and evaluation of existing Integration approaches - Tools for supporting Information Integration - Data Integration in data warehousing/ data mining - Data integration in P2P/Grid systems - Data Integration in Health Care systems - Data Integration in e-Commerce applications - Data Integration in e-Government applications - Data Integration in e-Science applications - Data Integration Management for mobile applications - Workflow Information Integration - Data Integration across Institutional Borders Submission Instructions ----------------------- The SIIK workshop accepts full and short research papers. Dear Colleagues, Apologies for multiple copies due to cross postings. Please send to interested colleagues and students. CALL FOR PAPERS ------------------------------------------------------------------------ International Workshop on Semantics in Virtual Organizations and Web Services ------------------------------------------------------------------------ International Workshop on Semantics in Virtual Organizations and Web Services In conjunction with The IEEE/ACM/WIC International conference on Web Intelligence 18-22 December 2006, Hong Kong Convention Center, Hong Kong, China Aims: Virtual organizations and web services have caught enormous research efforts over the last few years and become a new research field. It has been increasingly recognized that semantic issues and semantic description frameworks play an essential and crucial role in the semantic grid and the semantic web. Focusing on the research and applications in the fields of virtual organizations (the semantic grid) and web services, this workshop is intended to provide researchers an idea-exchange forum for their initial studies and practices in semantic and conceptual modeling based approaches to VO and WS constructions and development. http://www.dur.ac.uk/w.w.song/SVO&WS2006-main.html Important date: Paper submission deadline: July 30, 2006 Notification of paper acceptance: September 5, 2006 Camera-ready of accepted papers: September 29, 2006 Workshop day: December 18, 2006 Submission: All submitted papers will be reviewed on the basis of technical quality, elevance, significance, and clarity. Note that ONLY on-line submissions are acceptable. Paper submissions should be limited to a maximum of 4 pages + 1 extra page in the IEEE two columns format, see the IEEE Computer Society Press Proceedings Author Guidelines. Please use the Submission Form on the WI'06 website to submit your paper. All papers accepted for workshops will be included in the Workshop Proceedings, which are expected to be published by IEEE Computer Society Press that is indexed by EI, will be available at the workshops. Topics of the workshop include but are not limited to: Conceptual modeling approach to virtual organizations Semantic description framework for web services Intelligent agent technology in virtual organizations Semantic service modeling Semantic modeling for resource management and share in grid Service oriented design and analysis Grid intelligence and semantic grid Semantic models for knowledge grid and information grid Semantic in business processes and workflows Workshop Organizers: Dr. William Song Prof. Remigijus Gustas Prof. Xiaoming Li Durham University Karlstad University Peking University International Program Committee (incomplete): Chen, Deren, Zhejiang University, China Johannesson, Paul, Stockholm University, Sweden Huang, Joshua, ETI, Hongkong University, China Löwe, Welf, Växjö University, Sweden Naeve, Ambjörn, Royal Insitute of Technology, Sweden Vasilecas, Olegas, Vilnius Technical University, Lithuania Wangler, Benkt, Skölvde University, Sweden Watson, Paul, Newcastle University, UK Wu, Zhaohui, Zhejiang University, China Yang, Hongji, De Mont Fort University, UK Zhang Jia, Northern Illinois University, USA
