Dave: Unfortunately. I won't be able to attend the GGF meeting. I need to find a supported project for my research on ontologies, without it, it makes it hard to come to meetings. This is the exactly the right way to go - i.e. use this meeting and the list to get a draft charter (and chairs etc) together and then hold a BoF next time as the next formal step towards creating the activity. Yes, there's Grid Forge for shared document space. Hi Hiroki There's not a Semantic Grid slot this time - we don't have one everytime and this GGF is an enterprise one (GridWorld) with limited space for all the other activities. But this doesn't mean there's no Semantic Grid - it's just as important (perhaps more important...) to go along to other sessions to talk about Semantic Grid and to identify the opportunities for Semantic Grid. This is exactly how the activity can grow within GGF (and why we tend to run Semantic Grid sessions at alternate events). For example, it was apparent last time that we feel we have some answers to issues that we believe are about to occur as larger numbers of Grid Services become available. We should attend relevant sessions and figure out how to engage and/or whether we want to create a new activity to take this forward. I'll be around from Sunday. As the event is in Boston I will also be linking up with W3C (also very important for Semantic Grid!) As Jon indicated it's useful for people to meet up informally next week, and one discussion (which will also come to the list) is about our plans and future activities. I'm expecting we'll have a business session at the next GGF - for one thing we need to look at our charter (I want to do this with all chairs present - Carole's at KCAP next week). Hi all, This is just a quick poll to see who will be at GGF15 and whether people are interested in getting together at some point during the week to talk about Semantic GRID ideas and how we can push it forward within the GGF. Therefore, I decided to contact you, for your assistance, so that I can divert my business interest in Zimbabwe to a more stable country as yours. Semantic Grid friends There will be an OECD meeting on Grids in order to advise government policy. The meeting is 25-27 Sept in Australia I have been asked to lead a discussion on Semantic Grids, present an informational talk on semantic Grids, and address these points: What are the main challenges and impediments to knowledge-manipulation and reasoning on the Grid? How can governments help? To allow users to voluntarily adhere to conventions in providing necessary information to enable knowledge manipulation and reasoning and/or to adopt policy means? Are there significant privacy or intellectual property issues? GGF15--proposal of presentation

Dear David, all, I would like to make a presentation at Semantic Grid RG at GGF15 in Boston. I intend to talk on two topics: 1. FIPA Agent and Web Services Interoperability Working Group FIPA, the standards organization for agent technology, is now under IEEE and has started a set of new activities. One of the working groups is Agent and Web Services WG. Its objective is to seamlessly integrate both technologies so that applications such as semantic grid can be easily implemented. 2. Agent Web Gateway Prior to the new FIPA activity, we have designed, implemented and tested a gateway that enables agents to register with, search and invoke web services and vice versa. We used the gateway to develop a prototype semantic grid application in terms of higher-level service brokering and lower-level resource management. Best regards, Suguri
