As discussed at OGF29 we are considering proposing an "Information System Navigator" (ISN) API as a further extension to SAGA. This API has been designed to add value to the org.ogf.saga.sd package. Having selected a service with the org.ogf.saga.sd.Discoverer API, this API provides the means to traverse the information model and retrieve additional data published about that service. Alternatively it is possible to start with a selected entity type rather than a service. An optional filter can be used to restrict the results returned. This API can be used to navigate any information system that can be represented as an entity relationship model. An implementation of this API along with a gLite adapter have very recently been deployed on WLCG. See the user guides and javadoc linked from: http://hepunx.rl.ac.uk/egee/sa3-uk/sd/ to see details of the API. We have built a web application on top of the SD and ISN APIs, which allows you to navigate around the GLUE 1 and GLUE 2 information models. Our test server can be found here http://rgma03.pp.rl.ac.uk/InfoBrowser/ Having gained experience from producing the implementation and adapter we propose to formalise this as a specification document that we will put forward as an extension to SAGA. Is this something that people would like to see go ahead? Regards Antony and Steve -- Scanned by iCritical.

Antony, Steve, Thanks for sharing this. Yes, we (as in the saga-rg and saga community) would be interested in seeing this a possible extension. There is interest in this possibly from the XD (successor to the TeraGrid) perspective too. Thanks Shantenu

Hi all, We are also interested in seeing this going ahead. This is exactly what was missing in SAGA SD to cover the use-cases of the team in charge of developing the EGI Operations Portal. Best regards, Sylvain Shantenu Jha a écrit :

Its predecessor CIC-Portal (for EGEE) already uses the BDII (without SAGA) as one of its information sources, and they would like to extends this posibility to information systems of other grids. That's why they are interested in SAGA. I don't know the exact use-cases, but I now that they are crossing information from multiple data sources (including information systems), and for this they need to be able to access to all the information in a structured way (e.g. Glue Schema). Hi, There are have been no comments on this so far - besides the claim that it is a necessary addition. I see that the title is misleading as it just says "Service Discovery" which has already been through the process rather than "Information System Navigator" which is designed to complement SD. If anybody has any comments now that would be good otherwise we can discuss next week in Brussels. Steve On 27 August 2010 13:51, <antony.wilson@stfc.ac.uk> wrote:

For the record, the Info Navigator document has been discussed in some detail at OGF0-30. Several small suggestions were made for changes to the document (i.e. more focus on use cases), but otherwise the document should advance into the editor pipeline. It was interesting and encouraging to see ad-hoc use cases from the audience :-) Best, Andre. On Thu, Oct 21, 2010 at 3:02 AM, Steve Fisher <dr.s.m.fisher@gmail.com> wrote:
