New OGSA-DAI Releases for GT4, OMII_2 and Axis ============================================== Data Access and Integration for the Grid ----------------------------------------
Dear Registered User of OGSA-DAI,
We are pleased to announce that the new 2.2 releases of the OGSA-DAI software (in source and binary distributions for GT4, OMII_2 and Axis) are available:
* Direct from the project website: http://www.ogsadai.org.uk/downloads/
The OGSA-DAI distribution contains Data Service components, as well as example clients. These allow you to connect to MySQL, DB2, Oracle, Postgres, SQL Server and eXist databases, as well as indexed text files. They have been tested on Windows 2000/XP, Redhat Enterprise Linux 3 and Solaris 9.
This is the eighth major release of OGSA-DAI and provides support for different "flavours" of OGSA-DAI and middleware platforms, with a Client Toolkit API providing application-side abstraction across these differences.
Highlights of this release:
Additional Resource Management Support: - Support for creating lightweight transient data service resources. - Activity supporting the withdrawal of data service resources.
Relational Resource Aggregation: - A data service resource that aggregates multiple relational data service resources, with three related activities to query the aggregated resource.
New Activities: - Data conversion: ResultSet to WebRowSet / CSV, ResultSetBLOB to bytes. - Relational meta-data: Retrieve logical and physical database schema. - XMLDB: XQuery support - Projection and transformation: Remove duplicate rows, project onto a column name or index, distribute numeric values onto spaces, generate a random sample of input data. - Delivery: Write data to a resource property, deliver data to null, Deliver data to a SOAP attachment. - Write a stream of bytes to a temporary file and output a reference.
Security: - Resource and activity level authorization interface. - GSI Secure Conversation message-level security for inter-service communications using data transport for OGSA-DAI WSRF.
Other: - Improved support for BLOBs in SQL query and update activities. - Revamped logging, exceptions and internationalization. - JARs required to compile OGSA-DAI source and run OGSA-DAI clients in binary distribution are now bundled with OGSA-DAI. - Numerous performance enhancements (summary of work on website).
