Andrew, Steven and all OGSA-BES stakeholders, At the OGSA-BES session at OGF32 in Salt Lake City on 17 July 2011, we had agreed to propose for the beginning of September 2011 improvements to the current specification of BES 1.0 described in GFD.108 But I am unable to define specifications before having a clear picture of requirements. Therefore, I am currently writing down a document named 'Requirements for an improved Basic Execution Service (BES)'. This document is NOT finished, but the first 10 chapters are in a readable and consistent state. The current version of this document is in the attached 'BES-Improvements-Requirements.doc' file. Thank you in advance for reading and criticizing this document. When GridForge will be up again, I will save the latest version there. Morris, Johannes and all, At the OGF32 PGI session, I propose to discuss Application Repositories : The EDGI project, in which I am working, really needs a robust Application Repository. So, it has created one implementation, with an 'EDGI Repository Administrator Manual'. This excellent documentation, which I have just saved at http://forge.gridforum.org/sf/go/doc16278 presents : - Use cases, - Requirements, - Functional specifications, - Implementation details. I am certain that the presented Use cases are also valuable for Production Service Grids, such as EGI, OSG, XCG (UVA), Naregi-Renkei, ... So, I propose to extract the Use cases, Requirements and Functional specifications in order to create an OGF recommendation for Application Repositories. Morris and Johannes, I confirm my presence at OGF32 Salt Lake City. Concerning the schedule of the PGI and GIN sessions at OGF32 Salt Lake City : Currently, they are scheduled on Saturday 16 July, at the same time as : - 11:00 Delegation - 13:30 Federated Identity Management Please try to avoid the same schedule as sessions which are of high interest for PGI and GIN members, such as : - EMI - Usage Record - DCI Federation - Delegation - Federated Identity Management - Federated and Delegated Access To Clouds - JSDL - GLUE2 - XML Rendering Many PGI and GIN members will be staying until Monday 18 July for the 'Science Agency Uses of Clouds and Grids' workshop anyway. So, if we have NOT too much interest towards 'FutureGrid, Gordon and Keeneland', I suggest to schedule the PGI and GIN sessions on Sunday 17 July. I know that it is impossible to optimize everything for everyone, so your final decision will be welcomed anyway.
