Call for paper - Information Sciences SI on Privacy Computing: Principles and Applications While more and more data including personal information is being hosted online such as cloud infrastructure, privacy leakage is becoming one of most challenging concerns in information collection, sharing or analysis. In practice, different temporal, spatial or application cases often demand different privacy protection solutions. Accordingly, most of traditional approaches are case by case or based on a specific application circumstance. It is on demand for a systematic and quantized privacy characterization towards systematic computing model describing the relationships between protection level, profit and loss as well as the complexity of integrated privacy protection models because real-world applications with privacy are changing across time, space and different domains. The Internet of Things (IoT) is becoming a key infrastructure for the development of smart ecosystems. IoT is a novel design paradigm, envisioned as a network of billions or trillions of devices communicating with each other and rapidly gaining global attention from academia, industry, and government. IoT has the potential to offer innovative solutions to real time problems such as ageing populations, climate change, healthcare, and battlefield monitoring etc. The heterogeneous nature of the IoT as well as the computational constraints of many of the building blocks of the IoT make security, privacy and trust a challenging problem to solve on the one hand, while security, privacy and trust play a critical role for most if not all applications of IoT in domains such as surveillance, healthcare, security, transport, food safety, manufacturing, logistics and supply chain management. Without effective solutions for security, privacy and trust reliable data fusion and mining, qualified services with context-aware intelligence and enhanced user acceptance and experience cannot be achieved. This symposium aims at providing such forum for researchers, practitioners and developers from different background areas such as IoT, big data, networking, wireless communication, information security and privacy protection areas to exchange the latest experience, research ideas and synergic research and development on fundamental issues and applications about security, privacy and trust issues in IoT environments. The symposium solicits high quality research results in all related areas. IoT is the latest Internet evolution that incorporates billions of Internet-connected devices that range from cameras, sensors, RFIDs, smart phones, and wearables, to smart meters, vehicles, medication pills, signs and industrial machines. IoT devices can deliver timely and accurate information that is needed to solve Internet-scale problems that have been too difficult to tackle before. Current IoT infrastructure deployed with smart sensing devices with limited computational capabilities (named as edge devices). Real time computing in such resource constraint edge devices is a challenging task whereas edge computing plays a vital role in IoT systems while implementing real-time computing. Edge computing is a novel paradigm that extends distributed computing and related services to the edge of the IoT networks with limited resources and computational power. As a result, edge computing became Quality of Service (QoS) parameter for IoT infrastructure. The heterogeneous nature of the IoT networks as well as the computational constraints of many of the building blocks of IoT systems make security a challenging problem to solve on the one hand, while security play a critical role for most if not all applications of IoT in domains such as surveillance, healthcare, security, transport, food safety, manufacturing, logistics and supply chain management. Without effective solutions for security, privacy and trust-reliable data fusion and mining, qualified services with context-aware intelligence and enhanced user acceptance and experience cannot be achieved.
