my review comments on model guidelines doc v13

Fred, Here are my comments on the model guidelines doc v13...nothing major in my opinion. - inconsistent use of the words attributes and properties; modify to use one word or the other throughout the document - section 2.3: this is correct at this point in time; however, please be aware that DMTF (in conjunction with its alliance partners) is modifying processes to provide the capability of extension through federation and/or delegation, and this work is expected to complete this year - recall that the DMTF structure just changed from WGs and TC to WGs, SCs, and TC....this needs to be reflected in sections 4.1 and 4.3 - section 4.3: DMTF is in the process of making a change to its portal so that attachements can be provided during feedback to the DMTF; so alternatively (when the portal change is complete) a CR with an attachment could be submitted using the portal (which is an easy way to get it to the right group and state that DMTF owns the rights of the change (alliance partner contributions are also acknowledged within the MOF/XML and on the CIM release web page) - the dates in the copyright in the Copyright Notice at the beginning of the document and in section 10 should say '2006-2008' - all URLs in the doc should be hyperlinks (found in various sections) - appendix A: last bullet should say 'CIM v2.16 experimental' - any figure/table references in the doc text need to have links to those referenced figures/tables Ellen

Hi Ellen, Thanks for the review. I'll try to incorporate the comments next week (I'll have plenty of plane and train time...). Regards, Fred Maciel Hitachi America R&D www.hitachi.com/truestories

Ellen, I have a new version ready to go, except for one comment:
- recall that the DMTF structure just changed from WGs and TC to WGs, SCs, and TC....this needs to be reflected in sections 4.1 and 4.3
I went through the latest DSP4002 and DSP4004 versions and still I could not figure out how things work now. For instance, does approval at the SC approves things at the TC? Where does a CR from an alliance partner go, to the WG or to the SC? For short, could you point out which changes are needed where? Thanks, Fred Maciel Hitachi America R&D www.hitachi.com/truestories

Fred, Basically schema/profile CR approvals happen at the SC level. The TC is responsible for approvals such as a CIM release, release of prelim/final docs, assignment of DSP numbers. When an alliance partner submits a CR, it should be submitted via the DMTF portal (modifications are being made as we speak by Kavi so the portal can accept attachments. Hi, I uploaded v14 to GridForge. The spreadsheet shows the comments that I'm not sure about, and the remaining ones are from Ellen and David, so please review them. Thanks, Fred Maciel Hitachi America R&D www.hitachi.com/truestories

Fred, After reviewing version 14, I have two minor updates that I hope you'll want to incorporate for usability and completeness. (1) at the end of section 1.0, please point the reader to the dmtf published documents page for the latest dmtf process documents (this is important because the process docs are being updated this year to state much more about interactions between dmtf and alliance partners...contacting the liaison may not be enough and/or may result in a delay to getting questions answered (2) in section 4.3 (end of first paragraph), please change dmtf portal to dmtf feedback portal and include the URL http://www.dmtf.org/standards/feedback Otherwise, I'm happy with the doc. Hi all,
After reviewing version 14, I have two minor updates that I hope you'll want to incorporate for usability and completeness.
I just uploaded v15 of the modeling guidelines to GridForge, which adds these updates. Hiro: it's time to schedule a review of the document in a teleconference. Regards, Fred Maciel Hitachi America R&D www.hitachi.com/truestories

Thanks Fred for revised draft!
Hiro: it's time to schedule a review of the document in a teleconference.
Does May 19 (Monday) 4-5pm work for you and Ellen? If not, how about May 12? Since May 12 is now for Steven and Andreas, we need to negotiate with them. http://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=ogsa.wg%40gmail.com Thanks, ---- Hiro Kishimoto -------- Original Message -------- Subject: [ogsa-wg] Modeling guidelines doc v15 From: Fred Maciel <Fred.Maciel@hds.com> To: ogsa-wg@ogf.org Date: 2008/05/03 8:24
