Hi Blair, Thank you very much for having good discussion at the OGSA Express Authentication Profiles session on Thursday and follow up on the latest status on MEX. OGSA-WG has discussed your feedback at our Friday F2F once again and Duane agreed to re-organize EAP documents to cover Thursday's discussion. He said they will be available shortly. Thanks for everyone who came to OGSA-WG sessions at OGF21 and F2F meeting on Friday. I hope you safe trip back! ---- Hiro Kishimoto -------- Original Message -------- Subject: [ogsa-wg] ***SPAM*** WS-MetadataExchange status From: Blair Dillaway <blaird@microsoft.com> To: ogsa-wg <ogsa-wg@ogf.org> Date: 2007/10/20 5:23
During the OGSA EAP session on the Oct 19^th , we discussed the possible use of WS-MetadataExchange (MEX) as a way of exchanging a services’ communication security policy encoded in WS-SecurityPolicy. The status of the MEX specification was raised.
I have confirmed that MEX is not yet in a standards body.
There are however, a fairly large number of implementations of the published specification (“Web Services Metadata Exchange (WS-MetadataExchange)”, Version 1.1, August 2006) co-authored by Microsoft, Sun Microsystems, IBM, SAP, BEA, Computer Associates, and webMethods. Implementers include Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, Sun, Adobe, and open source AXIS.
Regards,
Blair Dillaway
