Services Computing is a new cross-discipline that covers the science and technology needed to bridge the gap between business services and IT/telecommunication services. The goal of services computing is to develop new computing technology and thereby enable more advanced IT/telecommunication services to support business services more efficiently and effectively. The IEEE APSCC 2009 workshops provide an additional avenue for researchers and industry practitioners to share their research positions, original research results and practical development experiences on specific new challenges and emerging issues that are related to APSCC. The organizers and chairs of accepted IEEE APSCC 2009 workshop shall have full control on the call for papers, forming of program committees, review and selection of papers as well as planning the workshop program. Workshops may be full-day or half-day. A full-day workshop should consist of at most 16 regular papers (with 4 papers per session), while a half-day workshop should select 8 regular papers, from a large number of submissions. There is a page limit of 6 pages for each accepted paper.

Prospective workshop organizers should send a proposal containing the following information to IEEE APSCC 2009 Workshop Chairs via e-mail (apscc09wrkshop@i2r.a-star.edu.sg):

  - Title of the workshop;
  - Organiser details including full name, affiliation, e-mail address, and a short CV;
  - Objectives/scope of workshop and a brief discussion of its intended contribution to the main conference;
  - Type of the workshop (full-day or half-day);
  - A short description of how the workshop will be advertised so as to ensure a sufficiently wide range of high quality contributions.

After the acceptance of a workshop proposal the organizer(s) should:

  - Create a Call for Papers/Participation for the workshop;
  - Create a Web page for the workshop, the link of which will be published on the IEEE APSCC 2009 Website;
  - Form a Program Committee;
  - After paper submission is closed, report submission details (number of submissions, list of paper titles and authors) to the conference organizers;
  - Review and select papers -- all submitted papers will be reviewed on the basis of technical quality, relevance, significance, and clarity; the workshop PC should aim at an acceptance rate of 33% or less; and
  - Schedule the workshop activities -- the day on which the workshop runs will be advised by the conference organizers.

The chairs must state in the workshop CFP that "Submitting a paper to the workshop means that if the paper is accepted, at least one author will attend the workshop to present the paper. For no-show authors, their papers will be removed from the digital library after the conference and their affiliations will receive a notification." The registration fees for workshops will be determined by the conference (not the workshop itself). The fees will be paid to the conference, and the conference will provide workshop facilities including the working notes printing, the meeting room, coffee break, lunch, proceedings and etc. Any further expense of the workshop such as the financial aid to the invited speakers MUST be provided by the workshop itself upon getting some sponsors for their own workshops. The money from workshop sponsors will be received by the workshop itself. Accepted workshops with more than 12 papers will be granted a free complimentary registration for one key workshop organizer or a keynote / invited speaker of the respective workshop.

Workshop chairs are not allowed to present/publish at their own workshops as they have a conflict of interest.
