Sustainable places consists of keynotes, clustering workshop sessions, technical paper sessions and poster displays. Already, clustering workshops are taking shape.
Below is a first look at four SP2020 workshops being planned. You can find information about all the workshops at www.sustainableplaces.eu and if you are organizing a workshop and would like us to help promote it – we’re happy to do that.

This workshop will present cutting-edge, ICT solutions based on innovative technologies incorporating a number of different aspects such as energy efficiency, smart buildings, human-centric automations etc. As all of the participating projects focus on behavioural change with focus on the successful interaction with the users, the proposed approaches are dynamic and interdisciplinary further involving social and behavioural sciences. In this way, the presented solutions are structured in such a way as to foster end-user engagement & motivation while minimizing any foreseen nuisance.

"Construction Skills 2.0 - Digitalization Tools for an Energy-Efficient Renovation"
| |
Digital transformation is slowly progressing in the European construction industry, which means a huge gap between theoretical digital opportunities and the realities of on-site construction. Digitalization is the key challenge to support the renovation interventions since it may contribute to collaboration, cost efficiency, and time savings. At the same time, it guarantees process quality along with all the renovation phases, solving some of the hindrances due to the uncertainty of the process. Particularly, the use of Building Models allows to store and share the information about the existing building through Building Information Modelling (BIM). This is a crucial point to avoid uncertainties, since the models are fed and checked by all stakeholders.

"Solar and Thermal 2.0 - Renewable Heating and Cooling Solutions for Buildings and Industry"
| |
RHC technologies play an essential role in developing a carbon-neutral building stock and industry in Europe, thus providing a fundamental contribution to the achievement of the EU climate targets. Existing technologies, including bioenergy, geothermal, solar thermal and ambient heat, have enormous potential to support a carbon-neutral economy & contribute significantly to the overall portfolio of renewable energy sources.
This workshop will bring together a selection of H2020 EU-funded projects involving experts from the biomass, geothermal, solar thermal and heat pump sectors to discuss a common strategy for increasing the use of renewable energy technologies for heating and cooling for buildings and industry.

"Integrated Home Renovation Services"
| |
Europe faces a profound challenge – to triple the current renovation rate in order to meet its climate and energy goals. For project promoters such as homeowners, the renovation process can be complicated, shaped by the ambiguity of the interventions to implement, combined with a lack of knowledge on existing solutions, as well as a lack of services to coordinate all required market actors involved in the renovation process. This often results in lengthy, time- consuming and disruptive renovation processes for both occupants and neighbours (e.g. noise, dust, need to move out, etc.).
This workshop led by TURNKEY-RETROFIT will bring together several H2020 EU-funded projects which aim at creating or replicating innovative “Integrated Home Renovation services” throughout Europe. Each project aims at dramatically improving the quality of the renovation service by covering the whole “customer journey” from technical and social diagnosis, technical offer, contracting of works, structuring and provision of finance, to the monitoring of works and quality assurance.
