The University of Virginia, Department of Computer Science's Virginia Center for Grid Research has an opening for a senior Grid engineer.

Master's degree or equivalent required; also, the following are required:

3 years experience in using Legion grid system software;

5 years experience in developing and maintaining grid or distributed

  computing software, particularly using C++; strong technical writing experience (in English); strong communications skills; and, ability to travel, both domestically and internationally.

 

Responsibilities of the senior grid architect include, but are not limited to: research into grid system design and architecture as well as guiding related research of students; design and implementation of extensions to Legion grid system software; design, development and deployment of grid enabled applications running on Legion grid software; deployment, maintenance and troubleshooting of grid systems using Legion grid software; writing of research proposals and peer reviewed technical papers for Center; and, developing and maintaining collaborations with both internal (UVA) and external collaborators.
