DAIS Specifications in Public Comment

The DAIS Specifications have now completed their initial GFSG Review, and have just entered their public comment period; these specifications are a component of the OGSA data architecture, hence this posting. This message is to encourage comments on the specifications. In this context we would welcome (for example): 1. Technical comments on any aspects of the specifications, in terms of their scope, clarity and correctness. 2. Comments from application developers on the suitability of the specifications for their use cases. 3. Comments from organisations that may be interested in implementing the specifications, for evaluation, for use for a specific purpose, or as part of a wider platform. 4. Comments from organisations or communities that might be interested in developing designs, either internally or as part of a standards activity, that extend the WS-DAI specification. 5. Comments on relationships with other OGSA activities. The specifications are available at the following URLs, where comments can be posted. In that context, a service represents a set of encapsulated IT components implementing specific business functions. The service interface is self-describing in order to publish, discover and dynamically bind services using an underlying Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), most often implemented using Web Services standards. However, this flexibility with regard to loose-coupling and the interoperability between cooperative organizations is being applied in current projects, especially in industrial projects. This workshop concentrates on all facets of BSN's and the architecture of service-oriented solutions supporting inter- enterprise collaboration, throughout the entire collaboration life- cycle. This includes the consideration of business strategies for the establishment of a BSN with cooperative organizations from different SOA environments and maturity, as well as the design of such cooperation and collaboration starting with the requirements until the final instantiation of the collaboration by discovering, composing, deploying, and invoking services. Based on the composed BSN, the cooperation and collaboration brings new research from the perspectives of business (e.g. provisioning) and technical (e.g. transactions), e.g. monitoring and auditing in a network of organizations. We invite papers addressing business and technical issues of BSN's from various perspectives, including development strategies of new BSNs, design of BSNs, as well as management and execution. We encourage contributions from both academia and industry. Hi all, We've agreed on this revised text at today's call. ---- Hiro Kishimoto 1.2 Relationships to Other Profiles This Profile extends the WS-I Basic Profile 1.1 [WS-I BP 1.1]. As mentioned in section 1.1 of the WS-I Basic Profile 1.1, there are several profiled bindings which should be used in combination with a profile. It is expected that combined claims of conformance with binding-specific profiles will be the norm. All requirements of WS-I BP 1.1 except for section 5 "Service Publication and Discovery" pertain to this Profile. There may be additional profiles in the future that will include discovery functions. This Profile mandates composition with an OGSA Basic Security profile as described in section 8.
