IEEE Network Magazine Special Issue Call for Paper: Trust, Security and Privacy of 6G https://www.comsoc.org/publications/magazines/ieee-network/cfp/trust-securi… 6G follows the footsteps of 5G and pursues the integration of communications and sensing. Through sensing the physical world and human-beings, 6G should be capable of programming to offer automation systems that span a rich variety of devices, several types of network and communication technologies and humans. 6G should timely offer user expected and satisfied networking services. It will embrace emerging technologies, such as quantum communication, molecular communication, real-time intelligent edge, Internet of everything, etc. As a consequence, personal and national safety will highly depend on network and information security. But sensing human-beings and physical world brings serious concern on privacy preservation, which however, conflicts with trust. Another view of 6G is it is a large-scale heterogeneous network (LS-HetNet) by integrating terrestrial networks, space satellite networks, marine networks. Such an integrated network can seamlessly support anywhere and anytime networking. But high Quality-of-Trust should be offered by LS-HetNet to meet mobile user expectations. By integrating with cloud computing, edge computing, network resources can be economically arranged with high flexibility across multiple domains according to user demands. But this requests virtual collaboration among multiple network operators in a trustworthy way with privacy preservation at both operator level and user level. Anticipating future development, ITU-T specifies that Trustworthy Networking should be provided. Trustworthy networking in 6G should ensure security and overcome privacy leakage in an integrated way. In short, 6G is expected to hold such attractive features as trustworthy and autonomous networking based on effective sensing to automatically satisfy user demands through integration of heterogeneous communication and networking technologies. However, such promising features introduce new challenges on trust, security and privacy, which motivate research and practice. This special issue aims to bring together recent advances on trust, security and privacy in the 6G networks. It welcomes original and innovative perspectives on theories, methodologies, schemes, algorithms, and systems related to 6G trust, security and privacy, from academia, industry, and government. We invite survey and tutorial articles directed to the special issue. Supported by a well-defined basis such as network virtualization and the decoupling of the data and control planes, the integration of SDN and NFV with current systems might be a straightforward process. However, this might incur many challenges which require deep analysis to propose creative solutions. The second generation (Web 2.0) encouraged users to share information and interact and collaborate with each other by posting their user-generated contents in virtual communities. The development of Web 2.0 allowed many new social networking sites to flourish such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Google Plus+, Tumblr, Instagram, VK, Flickr, Vine, and many others. Such Online Social Networks (OSN) provide a wealth of raw data that is invaluable to governments, companies, universities, etc. The large scale of such networks presents a challenge to providers just to keep them running smoothly. It also presents a challenge to researchers wanting to analyze the data collected from such networks. These challenges contributed to the rise of important of important fields such as big data. December 6-9, 2021 *SDMEC 2021 CFP* The emerging networking techniques such as Software Defined Network (SDN) and Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) are promising a complete paradigm shift in how we manage our future networks. With their enormous benefits which include reducing the operational cost, better resources utilization and easier management requirements, the adoption of such technologies is gaining momentum. Supported by a well-defined basis such as network virtualization and the decoupling of the data and control planes, the integration of SDN and NFV with current systems might be a straightforward process. However, this might incur many challenges which require deep analysis to propose creative solutions. In the (SDMEC 2021) Symposium, we are aiming to invite researchers from both the academia and the industry to present their state of the art research efforts and findings and to open the doors for discussion about how to contribute of the advancement of this important research field. December 6-9, 2021 *BAT 2021 CFP* A blockchain is a distributed ledger for recording transactions and/or data in a meaningful order, maintained by many connected nodes without a trusted central authority. Blockchain has a great potential to create new foundations for most distributed systems by efficiently establishing trust among nodes, especially in emerging networks. Such a fundamental technology to enable decentralization play an important role in a wide spectrum of topics such as Internet of Things (IoT), Cyber Physical Systems (CPS), edge computing, cloud computing, fog, mobile computing, social networking, wireless communication, vehicular network, and even more other fields. At the same time, there is a lack of fundamental study on the limitation of blockchain such as scalability, security, privacy, efficiency, availability and dependability. Hence, the development and deployment of blockchain-based systems and applications will likely exhibit new requirements and complicated challenges, which brings more open issues and exciting directions for research communities. December 6-9, 2021 *IoTNAT 2021 CFP* The Internet of Things (IoT) technology offers unprecedented opportunities to interconnect human beings as well as Machine-to-Machine (M2M), whereby sensors and networks allow all ‘things’ to communicate directly with each other to share vital information allowing us to have an instrumented universe where accurate data is readily available to inform optimal decision making. The IoT is about to enable a range of new capabilities and services far beyond today’s offerings. It will fundamentally change how people go about their lives. According to Gartner, the number of objects connected to the Internet is set to reach 20 billion by 2021. Cisco estimates the number will be close to 26 billion objects by 2021. Others believe the actual number will be even higher with the assumption that any object with a simple micro controller and on-off switch will be connected to the Internet in the near feature. The scale of the IoT is set to have a major economic, social and environmental impacts; the intersection of which forms the future sustainable growth. The IEEE International Workshop on Internet of Things: Networking Applications and Technologies (IoTNAT 2021) Symposium will be held in conjunction with The Fifth International Conference on Fog and Mobile Edge Computing (FMEC 2021). The IoTNAT 2021 Symposium aims at soliciting original ideas on the broad area of IoT including challenges and opportunities, concepts and applications and future trends. December 6-9, 2021. *SDS 2021 CFP:* Next generation cloud systems will require a paradigm shift in how they are constructed and managed. Conventional control and management platforms are facing considerable challenges regarding flexibility, dependability and security that next generation systems will require. The cloud computing paradigm has gone part of the way towards alleviating some of the problems associated with resource allocation, utilization and management (e.g., via elasticity). However, many of the elements of a well-designed cloud environment remain “stiff” and hard to modify and adapt in an integrated fashion. This includes underlying networking topologies, many aspects of the user control over IaaS, PaaS or SaaS layers when such is needed, construction of XaaS services, provenance and meta-data collection, and so on. In many situations the problem may be because service abstraction is inadequate. Software Defined Systems (SDS) are systems that have added software components which help abstract actual IT equipment and other layers. One classical example, of course, are hypervisors. Such separation provides a great opportunity for system administrators to more easily construct and managing their systems through flexible software layers. Software Defined Systems include Software Defined Networking (SDN), Software Defined Storage, Software Defined Servers (Virtualization), Software Defined Datacenters (SDD), Software Defined Security (SDSec), and ultimately Software Defined Clouds (SDCloud) to name a few possibilities. Individual solutions and seamless integration of these abstractions remains in many respects a challenge. After the high success of the previous editions (SDS'2014, SDS'2015, SDS'2016, SDS'2017, SDS'2018, SDS' 2019, SDS' 2020), The Eighth International conference on Software Defined Systems 2021 (SDS'2021) will continue to be a forum for scientists, researchers, students, and practitioners to present their latest research results, ideas, and developments in the area of software defined systems – both components and their integration - and by implication advancement of next generation clouds. SDS 2021 aims to investigate the opportunities and in all aspects of Software Defined Systems. In addition, it seeks for novel contributions that help mitigating SDS challenges.
