I see no point talking about the specification until we have reached some solid views on security and the DEPR through these use cases. We seem to be going round and round in circles. Again. Michel, Some comments and correcions :) ... sorry - force of habit .. can't resist. There are a couple of ambiguities but it on the whole it demonstrates that things can be done using DMI. My one concern is that although how the DEPRs are created is out of scope for DMI I feel that DMI has to specify what a DEPR is and what can go in it in order to operate to use the DMI framework - I guess that's what part of the spec is there for. The more issue to be resolved is the one that Steven has brought up - is there any advantage in embedding the DMI information inside the EPR as opposed to using additional DMI information in the SOAP header/body? If there is no clear advantage to either which method should we opt for - I get the impression that you advocate DMI info inside the EPR while Steven would prefer it outside. Anyone else got any views on this? Mario On Tue, 10 Jul 2007, Michel Drescher wrote:

Can I propose a third way.... the critical point is there needs to be information to be passed about. Lets capture that in a data structure. That information could be passed about as meta data in an EPR or it could come from other sources and be passed into the data transfer startup operation. That would not seem to need the EPR part of the data EPR - just the data. Steven
Mario,
I have never been comfortable with putting all of this information inside
the DEPRs. So, I think that your question is the right one: are there any
clear advantages to putting the DMI information in the DEPR? If there is
not, I would vote for making them explicit parameters (i.e., putting them
in the SOAP header/body).
