I want to draw your attention to section 4 that briefly describes how this service fits as one of three services that can be used by a Replica Management Service (RMS). I think this fits your concept of "composable services". *RRS: Replica Registration Service for Data Grids*, /Arie Shoshani, Alex Sim, Kurt Stockinger, /Proceedings of VLDB Workshop on Data Management in Grids (VLDB-Grids'05), September 2005. http://sdm.lbl.gov/~arie/papers/RRS.VLDB-Grid.2005.pdf Also, I want to mention some desired functionality when using storage services as parts of other services (I mentioned that briefly during the call). These include: 1) there needs to be a way to requesting to reserve storage space, and passing that information to the transfer service. 2) there needs to be a way of passing to the storage service the desire to keep files in the storage space for some lifetime, and releasing the lifetime commitment when done. This does not necessarily imply removing the files. Arie
