Dear All: I enclose an edited version of the document, numbered "v17." I produced this version by taking the edited "v13" that Andrew G. circulated previously; I've numbered it v17 because there is also a v16 on GridForge. I've tried to edit the text to improve readability. In some cases, I've included comments to note things that seemed unclear to me. My intention has not been to change semantics, but if I have done so, someone should point that out! I'd like to do more, in particular to produce a brief section that summarizes the approach and architecture. But I feel I have had the token for long enough for now.
