If you are going to get someone from NERC, might be an idea to prime them about the OGC workshop, ie, the Geographic Information standards are already being used in some major initiatives relating to environmental informatics (I can provide the text if needed), and OGF is entering into a dialogue, etc.

Chris Swan and Alex Pastron of Credit Suisse are definitely interested in giving a keynote. I think this could be an excellent session.
I also like the idea of someone from the ClimatePrediction.net project or the UK Natural Environment Research Council, as these have produced very good science and are of wide interest.
